Ah, I didn't say I had the big logo M6, just that I like itphotonium said:if you look at the logo placement of the current m7 & 8, one could get the impression that our leicas were just a wee bit ahead of their time!
the first two rolls of film are currently being developed and i'm eagerly awaiting the results!
. I hope you are enjoying it. It's a nice one. What we have in common is the M6 with summicron 50 as a starterkit .I developed my first roll today and started scanning. There is a lot to learn about a RF. It's not the same as an autofocus/autoexpocure digital experience but it's wonderful to be old school again.

Some photos of a couple of Ms
The first is an M4-P wearing a Tele Elmarit. Of course the viewfinder is not needed for this camera lens combo, but like most on this forum I love gadgets and I think it looks cool. Besides I enjoy using it. While the TE is said not to be as sharp as some Leitz lenses it is pretty good as far as I am concerned and it certainly makes up for any minor shortness in this department with its small size. Besides I am not one to chase sharpness for sharpness' sake.
Second is an M3 with the 35mm f 3.5 Summaron. (Early type) This one does need the finder of course which is a Tewe clone. I really like this camera lens combo. The Summaron is fairly clean (with very minor clouding only visible if you shine a bright light thru the lens but still manages to take nice photos.) Cosmetically both the camera and lens are in excellent shape. BTW while I have the contemporary hood for the lens I actually prefer this later hood for using as it is more functional and looks good besides.

Ilan, the new MP has soft black paint, unlike your M6 which is anodized chrome. It doesn't take that much to thin out lacquer until brass underneath: perhaps a few hundred to a thousand rolls would do.

It's kind of funny how people prefer their Leicas. I wouldn't want it on my car and my Nikons would not be any prettier with it either.

For the first time in ages I took out my M3 yesterday (the one pictured a couple of posts above wearing a Summaron and separate finder.) After months of almost exclusively shooting digital (Nikon D70s) I am once again amazed at how great these cameras are to shoot. I had forgotten how silky smooth they are to wind and use and how gentle that lovely little shutter click is. I think I am in love!

I think somehow I'm too good to my equipment. None of my cameras has any rubbed parts that I did. I doubt my M6 will have anything like that. Not that it's made of brass, so it would not be as nice. Is that why so many like the MP?
Seriously. Did you wear it a special way under your arm to get it like that, maybe with a steel wool jacket? No, seriously.

I've heard that fine grain sandpaper works, but I just put my camera in the canvas bag and bring it everyday.

I am sure it will influense your style. You will start to think different - you have to.
Isn't this odd? Its true. When you use a Leica M you do look at photography differently somehow. It has to do with being fully manual and in my case having no built in meter. By using a wide lens (35mm usually) and zone focusing and by estimating exposure (having first made a check with my hand held meter then putting it away) it somehow frees me to think about the image. It also helps that the viewfinder allows you to see more of what is around the field of view as well as what is in it. My AF, multizone focus, multizone metering, digital Nikon does not have the same effect on my thinking although in theory it should be more liberating.

just a strap from a purse I bought at Goodwill. It took about 10 trips of looking before a purse showed up with a strap I liked. There is not any metal or any adjustments to make, but it is a little slippery on the shoulder.

My Martin Parr M6TTL special!
Until last night, my M6TTL was just another leica body. Martin Parr came to give an open lecture at the local university last night and so I went along. Great lecture and afterwards there was the opening of a national open student drawing competition in the same building. So I gladly picked up a glass of wine and had a wander, shooting a few frames with my M6TTL. MP autographed various items for the local photography students. As he left. I wondered what I could ask him to sign? Conveniently, leica left the top plate of my chrome M6TTL without engravings just for this very purpose. So out came my Sharpie pen and hey presto! I suppose I'll now have to retire this body and use my M2 instead!!
Any suggestions
