Let's see your Leica M

Hehe you guys make me laugh!

Sure is a "user", as I am a user (maybe 20% GAS / 80% user). I bought it without even have tested it... But was glad it worked flawlessly (with J-12 lens + HP5+ film):

Faux lizard M7 Recoated with real lizard.

I recovered my M7 a la carte, as Leica's "Lizard Look Black" skin was not wearing well after 3 years of use. I replaced it with real black lizard skin from Cameraleather.com, which looks nicer and has a much better grippiness. Shown with my new Summarit M 35mm/2.5.

PS. The old skin is viewable at http://www.rangefinderforum.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=23755&d=1144171771

Wow! I`m impressed! It looks as if it had a real hard time!
Good luck with it!

I once had an M4 that had a split gap on one of the top`s corners, just torn open by a knock, which I just closed with some silver solder and hard brazing, of course with cap taken off! That gave a bizarre finish!
I sold it years ago and the guy shipped it to Wetzlar for a full service! I would have liked to see their faces. Anyway it received a new top!
Best regards Wolfhard
PS. If there should be more severe dings in future, I can still offer hard brazing as an option

You have good taste!! I love the classic Leica script + number on the top plate.
BTW, how is the Summarit?

Nice 1. Whats the story?:)
Thanks! Im loving it!
*Sorry if its long btw :)
I was up in NYC during XMas a few weeks back, and the family came up for some vacation time etc...I had just bought a new R2A about a week or two before, giving up for then, the M6 dreams Ive had for a while (since I sold my M3 for money reasons a long while back, I missed the silent shutter soooo much! Told myself when I can, an M6 for me!)....anyway I was on Adoramas site (I only like em for film, up until that day!) and I saw a "user" M6 for $1092, I thought Id run over and see it, I thought if I can get an ok price for my R2A Ill trade in and pay the difference....But they couldnt find it haha, annoying sure, but I thought ok, not meant to be, I can wait...then he said wait a minute, and brought out a TTL, that was in ok condition, some brassing and scratches, one dent, but I didnt have an interest in a TTL personally, and too expensive, so I picked up my R2A to head out and Ari, the guy helping me, said to hold on one more second, they found the M6 I had seen lol, so the Leica "manager" brought it down, it was amazing, not a single scratch on it, no brassing, it couldnt be the one I saw! It wasnt!!! UGH! It was a (I use the word sparingly) minty Classic for $1400 haha, so I said no way (after I played with it of course) then Ari says "You really like it dont you? I can tell" of course I say yes, i do, its my dream camera but I can wait, its too much, he says to hold on one second, calls upstairs, speaks some Hebrew (?) and hangs up, says "Ok, for you, right now today, $999, what do you think?" I asked if he was kidding, he wasnt, I asked if that was with my R2A trade in (that theyd give me $303 for)? He said NO, its $999 PLUS your trade in! Needless to say, I alsmost sh!t, then I said ring me up! $700 for this M6 was just the XMas miracle I couldve only dreamt about, not even baseplate scratches haha, insane, musta been a shelfer before I got it! I wouldve kicked myself forever if I didnt jump on it! I was so excited I forgot to buy film, and I forgot to take my half shot roll out of the R2A! Oops! (not to mention whoever sold the the M6 left a finished roll in too haha!)
Anyway, Adorama redeemed itself for me that day as well, maybe its just online problems that Ive had? Anyway, couldnt have asked for better service in the end, and now, I cant ever put my M6 down, I love it! (I ended up buying a bunch of Kodak 400CN (my new guilty pleasure) and shot that for that week!

Heres some shots from the first few days with my M6 and the 50mm Nokton:

At last I have an M2. Lusted after one since the late 1960s, even when (1985 to 2002) I had an M3 which I loved. This user arrived from Youxin Ye yesterday, and the Jupiter 12 is mounted with the M adapter that came from Yuri of Fedka last week.

Looks nice, and the proletarian lens fits very well ;) Have fun with it!

Thanks, Philipp. Two of my other lenses are also "proletarian" -- a Jupiter 3 and an Industar 61 L/D -- but the Teutons are represented by a Culminar 85. The body shows the signs of having had a hard life, but the V/F, R/F and shutter tell me that it is ready for another. Certainly it will outlast me.

Here is my M kit

Here is my M kit

Newly acquired MP, 28 Elmarit ASPH, and 50 Summicron. I hope to add an M8 to this kit and be done.

After a year of using and abusing my poor Bessa R2a, I finally took the plunge and upgraded. Sold the R2a for £200 and obliterated my savings to make up the £690 for a second hand Leica M6 (made in about '92, in really good condition):

I buy a camera to use it, and so far this camera just feels so incredible. It is the perfect weight, and just feels really well made and reliable. I have the Summicron 40 F2.0 for general carrying around, and when the sun goes down I bring out the beast that is the 35mm F1.2 Nokton. Cant wait to dev the roll of Tri-X i have in there at the moment. And print some stuff at my university's darkroom on monday. Feels good to finally own a Leica.

I'm very curious about the 35 Nokton, but it just looks so unnaturally big. How can you drag it around? Isn't it strange to lift something like that to your eyes? I'm still tempted... Nice kit!
