I have the leica with scraches and a dent on the top plate endeed 🙂 I like my jupiter (although I have never tried leica lens), but it has a damage carving, so I decide to put on it a filter to use a hood without problems. And there are no questions for me to buy a b+w filter:
1) you can screw a filter
2) you can safe almost clean coating
3) this filter do not harm a picture (I suppose 🙂)

Here's mine: M6 TTL bought s/h a few months ago, plus my only lens: Leica 50mm f2.5 Summarit. bought new at the same time as the camera.

I have no problems with it, but there again I don't do low-light photography - if I did it wouldn't be fast enough. I do value its small size & comparative low weight. So I'm happy. Happy enough, in fact, that I'm contemplating getting a Summarit 35mm later this year, unless I can find a really good 35mm Summicron (non-ASPH, probably) for a good price.

I think the Summarits are very good lenses. I accept that in absolute terms they aren't as good (in various ways) as Summicrons or Summiluxes, but I don't do low light stuff, and I don't print at 30" x 20", so they're plenty good enough for me.

2.5 or 2.8 is plenty fast enough for most situations.
 
Just took a shot of this combo yesterday night after a one day trip. Silver M7 with 35mm Summicron 7-elements and my black Billingham Hadley bag.

Man, part of the reason why I love Leicas. Each camera has it's own unique history and soul. Not like today's DSLRs that fall to the wayside and get replaced every few years

Ive only had the M3 for less than a week and I havent even shot 1 roll with it yet! I got it from David Murphy here on these forums.

Already I like it better than the M6. It is smoother, feels nicer to the touch and I believe its built better. The VF looks incredible for a standard lens.

Realistically I will use them equally. The M6 for 28mm and the M3 for 50mm. I have a Jupiter-8 on the M3 now but Im saving for a summicron.

Ill post some results if they come out decently.
 
Never thought I would bite the bullet on another M body but resistance was futile I suppose.
