Let's see your Leica M

Here is my M8 with grey lizard skin and a nice little 35mm screwmount Elmar.

Thanks for the comment, sorry I didn't check the thread earlier.
Edit--Yes, it is Rally finish, with essential strap ordered at 109mm to the lugs. Hangs perfect.

For some reason I have lately been acquiring with the idea of "go anywhere" preparedness...hence the jeep, case and durable M.

On another note, I met up with an old photo prof for st patty's who shoots mostly with a 5D now. He took a shot with my M6, and I laughed when he instinctively tipped the camera forward to check the image on the screen. Bad habits!

My a bit rare M6 0.72x from 1988 when the production was moving (I guess):
only M6 engraved on front plate and LEICA GMBH GERMANY in one row on back plate
and red dot saying Leica (usually Leitz).

gandalfk, a Gaffer is generally defined as the head of the electrical department in film making. Gaffer tape is a special kind of tape, looks kinda like masking tape, but with special adhesive that holds tight but strips off cleanly. Used to tape down electrical wires, etc. Very useful stuff and doesn't leave a residue on your camera when you take it off like the electrical tape you used will.

wow, thank you very very much for the explanation!
When I disguised the camera I thought of something about
residues and I touched with my fingertips many times to lower
it's adhesive power.

I think that, enlighted by your explanation and knowledge, I'll
hunt for Gaffer tape to prevent damage on the camera. ;)

BTW, this morning I went to shoot a roll at the local market here
in Bologna, well, shooting with her is real poetry.. :)

I have the same one and didn't know it was kind of "rare". When did Leica add the LEICA on the front plate (like on my 1995 M6) ?

Edit: Wow. I'm searching google images with few keywords and you're right, looks like even Pre-1988 leitz leica M6 have the "LEICA M6" on the front plate. Never noticed that

I am not an expert, more informations here:
http://www.mir.com.my/rb/photography/companies/Leica/Leica-M6/htmls/M6-classic-nomenclature.htm

Pre and after 1988 have LEICA M6 engraving on the front plate.
And I forget to mention that there is no engraving on the top plate.

I'll assume the seller of mine didn't know it was rare either then. I spent several months determined to pick up an M6 body for $900 or less. Not only was the one I got in excellent condition (Two scuffs, nothing else wrong), it's also apparently rare as well.
