i had one of these Summaron lenses, worked lovely on the M3. very sharp. I sold it to fund a 35mm Summilux, but I do miss it at times.

I second that. I have the same 35/2.8 Summaron also with a funny s/n 1 665 555, that I bought cheap off ebay two years ago.i had one of these Summaron lenses, worked lovely on the M3. very sharp. I sold it to fund a 35mm Summilux, but I do miss it at times.
Here's my kit, relatively new leica shooter here; (26 yrs old).
Acquired the second M8 thanks to a forum member (using the 15mm on it)

"M8.2" | D3 | 58 Noct-Nikkor
That little gem has almost unmanageable dof at close focus. It does focus down to 0.5m 😱 which tops the Noctilux' razor thin dof.
So if unusably thin dof is the thing to go after this lens is it.
When I picked up the Noct at the dealer yesterday, he asked me about my M8.2, I bought from him half a year ago.
I pulled the camera out of my back and he couldn't believe it, as he never had seen a brassed digital M before 😀
He has just now another M8.2 in exactly the same beautiful condition, I bought mine from him in - it is priced at 2.400 EUR.
If the Noct wasn't so expensive, I'd surely be tempted, to pick a second M8.2
glad to see someone else is using the heck out of his M8. I have a black paint M8 Panda and it's just starting to show some brass. when I first bought it, I would have been horrified at this given how much money it cost. now, after 12 or 14,000 clicks, I'm happy that any paint that's worn off has been from well-loved use.
That was close - good you're back in sanity ;-)
Is this a black dotted standard M6 classic?
