Menos, the Pictures of your M8.2 made me searching for one for my own. But, due to fewer offers I decided to give the m8.1 a try.
Leitz Leica M6 and the new-to-me M8.
Tonight I´m going on vacation. Hope the M8 works as good as my trusty M6.

Nice M8, but you really should consider replacing that standard asphalt roofing paper with actual leatherette!

Well I'd like to one day have a wife who wants a Leica as well. But she would have to accept playing second fiddle because I ain't leaving the wife I have!
Haha Johan ;-) Feel the same here. The misses is not the slightest bit interested of grabbing a camera.
Thanks - I still didn't get the focussing feel perfect with the 35 Lux pre ASPH, will have to get different viscosities - a job, I will do, after I machined the shroud. When all this is done, I am sure, the pre ASPH will be a fantastic shooter.
I like the 35/1.4 quite a lot - one of my mainly used lenses. The hood on the 35 Lux ASPH is the Leica 12466 lens hood.
I asked a few times, but get no answers - it is said, this hood is made in a run of only 500 pcs, so I got two
One for use on the Lux and a second one untouched in box, to finance a a cruise ride, when I am retired and 85y Wow - nice compliment ;-) Good choice with the M8! These cameras are tanks - really.
At first, I didn't trust the digital M, when I bought it and asked questions, but once, I started to stop worrying and just using the thing, it is the best, there is.
I find it sad, Leica opted for a cost saving (but tougher) black powder coating on the M9 instead of the beautiful lacquer painting of the M8.2 and MP. I find the Vulcanite leatherette, used on the M8.2 the best one, right after original Vulcanite - it never slips.
I agree with Johan on the sandpaper/ roof covering stuff, used on the MP and M8 - it looks interesting at first, but lacks in functionality.
It's a Leica 12466 - I think, you still can buy one.
Anybody knows, if there are really made only 500 copies?
It is designed for the 35 Lux ASPH and the 28 Cron ASPH (I still kick myself, that I sold my 28 Cron).

I have a Canadian 35 lux it has the smoothest focus and most robust feel of any lens I've had, not very keen on the hood/filter arrangement though! Sublime lens for film!

HAd my BP M4 setup by Sherry a few years ago to accept the new Leivcavit MP. Three weeks ago I grabbed a great deal form Adorama - this M2 with an original Vit-MP. I had to replace the vulcanite and still need to do a CLA (viewfinder is grungy) - but it works great. I like having both versions together to use (BTW they both feel nearly the same, although the original does have a different sound).

I use standard Leica straps with a secret ingredient
At some point, I bought every Leica standard strap, I could get my hands on and ended up with more than a dozen or so.
As a standard, I remove the awful rubber pad and wash the strap a few times with hair shampoo.
That makes them really soft to the touch and very comfortable.
I prefer the standard straps without rubber for their slim fit and the ingenious quick release system, making switching straps/ wrist straps quick.

Actually this photo shows how the Leica design marched on to perfection over the 50's barock camera design.
I like the very clean and simple solutions, Leica picked with the M - not one edge or radius too much - just perfect.
Don't get me wrong, the Nikon is a beauty, but the Leica M is just the nicer camera (although black chrome is not exactly a beauty option, but rather a practical one).

I absolutely agree with you, saying that the Leica design is practically superior and it's not "worse", than the design of the Nikon.
But for me and that's just my opinion, in terms of looks, I won't prefer it, in this particular comparison. Just for the looks, I also prefer a IIIg over the M3, but maybe I'm just weird
