Apparently it belonged to Flemming
Adelson. Does anyone know who this person is?
Your M3 has quite a provenance. Flemming Adelson is a Danish photographer, mostly movie stills I believe. But he also took pictures of The Beatles and The Rolling Stones when they were visiting Denmark. Maybe these pictures were taken with your M3!
Here's Brian Jones, for example: http://www.europhoto.eu.com/EuropeanaDetail.aspx?file=spdk20100812-110105-2.jpg

Pelican Case (totally waterproof) makes perfect sense to carry several thousand dollars of Leica gear in a canoe. Used one to carry a camera in a white water kayak down 225 miles of the Colorado through the Grand Canyon. Not a drop on the camera gear after several eskimo rolls through some of the bigger rapids.

Aki Asahi's 4034.
I don't think it's available anymore unfortunately.
4008 is just as lovely, with a slightly finer grain.

Why is this M2 so sad? well, it's because the strap pulled out on one end and it fell. and then the finder went black due to the beamsplitter decementing. and then I accidentally removed most of the (aluminum) silvering on the beamsplitter.
In the meanwhile, the rangefinder has been removed and in its place there is now some black cardboard, tape and air. And in place of the Nokton 35 is the 12mm Heliar. Canada balsam has been ordered, and tests have been made. A silvering solution has been prepared, and tests are being made. And the single knots that were on the strap ends are now double knots.
I'm still optimistic.
(and I thought you guys would be amused with the stickers)

I like this bit.
A refreshing reminder that all the bling in the world doesn't necessarily make for a good photograph.
Somehow, I doubt this one is going to end up on the shelf with a treasured collection of mint Leicas whose shutters are never tripped.

Just took delivery of a near mint M6. After the wrist strap broke and my M3 hit the ground viewfinder first I was so disheartened I was thinking of selling the Cron and just shooting digital. In the end I decided to get another body and went with the M6 this time. The viewfinder is way brighter than it ever was in my M3 even after it had a CLA.
This feels 'right' in my hands. The only other camera I've owned that gave me this feeling (besides the M3) was my Hasselblad 500CM. It reeks of quality and workmanship. It makes me want to shoot more. My D800/700/200/X100s/X100 never gave me that feeling. Time to load some Tri-X and get shooting!
Sorry for the crappy iPhone pic.

Very close to deciding that this combo will be my only Leica setup. No digital anymore except for work type stuff.
