Let's see your Leica M

Thanks Erik. The BP M4 is the camera that started my BP journey. My first repaint documented here on RFF but sadly deleted thread was an M4. At the time I couldn't see the point of spending so much on an original. I should have known better! As much as I like M2's the M4 to me is the last of the true Leica cameras. Not the most valuable by a mile and thankfully so as people like myself who actually take photographs can still stretch to afford them. I still have my self painted M2 but it's this M4 that will be in my bag with the Nikons. I'm trying to decide between a 35 v3 or a 28 2.8 Zeiss to pair with it.
Which strap is the Leica one? Is it brown or black?
Regards John

New to me M4 with my V3 Summicron.

That's a beautiful set John, congratulations! I 100% agree with you about the BP M4, probably my ultimate camera too as I don't think I'm going to find an affordable BP M3 anytime soon...

We never did sort anything out about the Leicaflex did we... Still got it??!

Regards

Simon

Thanks Simon, yes it's still here. I haven't bothered doing any sales ads lately. Got anything interesting to trade? Email me?

The leather strap is black (at one side). The newer ones are imprinted LEITZ WETZLAR GERMANY and have a very handy rubber pad, that was originally also available separately. The earlier ones are not marked, but are as good.

They were very expensive items, made from the finest leather available, some say they are made of leather from aborted calfs.

Erik.

That really is a nice BP m4 John. Erik you got style man, I've been admiring many of your cameras before and I agree that a period strap would top it off perfectly.
John you cant put a Zeiss on that rig though can you. It just wont be right. Go for the 35 v3, that'll be proper.

I'll keep looking for a v3 but for now I just bought Nigel's 35 c-biogon.
Sold my v4 35 recently so needed a 28 or 35.
v4 was a great lens and although I had no issues it's build was no where near the asph I had or the older lenses.

That is a beautiful M4, John. Congratulations. Is it from the same year as your Summicron SFK ('68 possibly)?

Had a similar picture with my old M2 and X100s
