The new leather looks great! I do dig a stealthed-out black chrome Leica.

That 21mm + finder is a fantastic Xmas present for sure Michael!
It is mostly from me to me, but my folks chipped in. I had to sell my 50v3 cron to fund it - but I didn't really get along with it.
The waiting is killing me!!!!!!!!!

That beat-up M6 is a beauty!
I like it - but at first I didn't realise how much attention it would get. It's actually not beat-up, it's just been used a lot. There are no dents or deep gauges, just buttery smooth enjoyment (rewind excluded). More close ups from a thread I started a while back http://www.rangefinderforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=146044

Surprised that thread didn't catch on harder! I like it.

Better go walk your pooch! I've got 3 dogs at home, and the word "walk" is forbidden in small talk... It evokes a rather ecstatic response from the peanut gallery.
Good lookin rig!

u huh !
we say 'W' but it's the body language and the keys, boots, jackets, leicas etc that really give it away.
i'm just trying out the MR4 for it's first roll.
it's consistent so far, but consistently two stops out ... eg: i set the ASA dial to 100 and i get good results for 400 ASA.
i'll get inside it and turn some little screws one day.
this was interesting ( well, interesting to a film-nerd anyway ) to discover : these two top-of-the-line 70s tanks are built to exactly the same width. the M5 is a shade skinnier front to back but swapping between them shows a real consistency of feel in my big, dumb hands. it's tempting to think that Leitz took the dimensions of their nemesis ( the F which is just a mm or two less broad than this F2 ) as an acceptable frame to 'work within' as they spent most of the 60s figuring out how to cram a TTL meter into an M.
food for thought ?
cheers, AP

At the risk of making matters worse: is the M5 really that big, or is something else going on here?

It's definitely been handled a lot.
My TTL shows the same wear patterns. It's just 15 years newer.

Taller than an F2 - I see! I just bought one those (F2S) so now I have a frame of reference - thanks!

That F2 looks very nice, I bought one of those new in '73 and the meter is very sensitive , actually it was the first finder with LEDs I think . I had the DE-1 finder at first but changed it for the metered one , should have kept it though as an additional finder .

the haggard looking F2 with DP1 arrived last week from japan.
it cost me all of $26 + $20 postage
so i'm enjoying lugging it around this week and running a test roll thru it. i appreciate being able to get closer to my subject ( well, okay .. my dog. it is a test roll after all ) than with an RF and i love the fact that the rewind button on the F2 allows you to cock the shutter for double exposures without the gymnastics needed on the M5 ( i do love my double exposures ).
and yes the meter is very nice. this body has inaccurate 1, 1/2 and 1/4 speeds but i can honestly say that i've never used those speeds on any camera in my life so it's no great loss. i'll take the escapement out and give it a soak when i get the time.
the M5 just goes everywhere with me usually with a Canon 1.4 on it.

That's a beautiful M2, and the Summaron is a great lens to pair with it. I've got 2 black paint M4's, but now I've got the itch for a BP M2...and with it the price goes up...

P.S. If you're looking to sell your BP M2, Erik...I sometimes have the cash...ha.
