Istvan, I always enjoy your product shots of Leica gear ;-)
As I finished my 35/1.2 with some magic grease from Japan today (it finally has the buttery smooth focusing action mine never had from the factory), I made a quick size comparison of some of my favorite 35mm lenses while it was raining (the filter is gone after a few first test shots out this night - it reacts really badly with the 35/1.2 and bright lights - have to find a nice lens hood now, not a fan of the standard screw on lens hood):

That hood. So cool and stylish, alas it's made of rare unicorn tears. Glad to see it's being used though!

As a matter of fact I bought two of them when they were introduced (accidentally) when their prices where not as outrageous as they are now.
When I received the second sample, I was made aware that these actually are part of a limited production run (often said to be just 500). I decided to keep the second one unused in the box while using this one as its meant to be.
Leica forgot to paint the index dot on this one, making it even more rare 😀
It is indeed a marvel how Leica managed to put so much in such a tiny lens - probably the smallest 35/1.4 ever made of any system.
It has it's downsides though - which curiously are seen as it's upsides by people who love them (myself included) ;-)
I find it impressive how seriously large the Voigtländer 35/1.2 really is.
The entire optical cell is huuuuge, extending even partly in excess of the lens mount.
The focus mount of the lens is quite substantially built on this one with one really massive main brass tube as the central part taking the heavy work from the heavy optical cell and moving parts.
It is a beautifully engineered lens - if Cosina would have used machined brackets instead of the steel stampings it would even be downright engineering jewelry 😀 but the metal sheet stampings do the job just fine in this case.

This beauty just arrived today. I decided to sell my M6 classic and get an M6ttl because I am used to the bigger shutter speed dial and the slightly different meter. I decided to "splurge" and get the black paint millennium, I have a black dot on its way from DAG and my A&A strap just arrived. I plan on taking this camera tomorrow down to Miami Beach (not on the actual beach) and shoot some Velvia 50 and hang out.

Thanks Lem, I like this set particularly, as the lens is from the 60ies, the body from the 80ies, the modern leicavit from the millenium, they are 40 years away from eachother, but fit perfectly together, that's the magic of the analogue m system imo.
