The "L" seal instead has a "D", does anyone know who that may be? DAG?
Not DAG, he uses a ‘92’ stamp.

Just this week I was lucky to find an M4 with collapsible Summicron for a very good price (under US$900).
At sub $900, you deserve a celebratory beverage Largedrink! Well done!

Thank you Deardorff38! I do believe I had a beer. But couldn't quite believe I had purchased the camera until it arrived in the post a couple of days later. The seller posted it untracked and it turned up with postal service tape around the box and a sticker "We regret the enclosed item has been damaged" - luckily though there appeared to be no issue (and there was a bonus IROOA hood in the box).
I have had some luck with other purchases recently too, I'll get around to posting them (and yes I have been reading the "Do you own too many cameras?" thread...!)

I found an old thread that answers my question about wax seals on M cameras here: https://www.rangefinderforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=42851&page=2
So according to post #43 a "D" is Tiranty, Paris/France.

Just this week I was lucky to find an M4 with collapsible Summicron for a very good price (under US$900). I already have a nice M2 and wasn't looking for another M...
It has a few small dings on the top plate but otherwise looks and feels good. I carried out my meticulous cleaning routine on the body and lens, adjusted the rangefinder and there's a new leatherette cover for it coming from Aki-Asahi.
The "L" seal instead has a "D", does anyone know who that may be? DAG?
Also, the Summicron coating on the front element is fairly worn, can anyone explain how photos may look with this deterioration, or point to me to threads with examples?
Nice find!
Hard to predict with regards to the coating. How does the lens look when inspected with an LED flashlight? If it's just coating damage it may not have any visible effect.

Used to have this nylon "grip". Lost it somewhere and the company "Leicagoodies", appears to be no more.My relatively new, old M6 Classic with the original owner's black tape removed.

My early DS M3. The camera was in quite rough shape (it had lot of scratches and dings, a dirty rangefinder, missing leatherette and speeds which where way off (it looked like someone gave it a CLA with bad quality tools because of all the stripped heads and missing screws (two of those screws are still missing but on their way thanks to Leica customer care!)).
I decided to service it myself and give it a black enamel paint job. Looks like the de-chroming process etched the former scratches a bit deeper, but I love the final effect it has on the finish. The finder is now clean and still quite contrasty and the shutter speeds seem to be fine again. A nice user camera.

My well used MP. dropped it twice last month. First time it was due to a strap ring failure. Second was when I was skateboarding down the street to school and hit a pebble and flew forward off the board. Camera still works perfectly fine after both drops so I can confirm they can take a hit. Got a new lens for the MP(21mm). Hoping to have it repainted to BP to match the rest sometime in the near future.
