This is a very special Leica, because it's my first! (In fact, I've never even had my hands on one until I opened the parcel that arrived just a little more than an hour ago). My first impressions? Quite wonderful - I finally understand what the fuss is all about

It's looking good! I see you've blackened out the script. I was thinking about the Japanesque Gold covering Aki once had when I saw your M4-2.laptoprob said:This is my recovered M4-2:

Yes I took the white lettering off, or rather out. It was partly missing anyway. It is a thick waxy paint. Like never really drying paint. Not hard at all. So I have been poking with a sharp pointed pin to get the white out. Then a light thinner wash and it was almost black. After that I coloured all engravings with a black edding marker. And cleaned the residue off again. Now all white letterint is just engraved and black.
So only the rich dark red is drawing the attention. Luckily the red is dark enough not to draw the attention too much.
By request Aki sent the back door without hole, much better without that stupid film speed sticker.
Unlike RML's gold M2. I have seen it 'in the flesh'. More than a little tacky, but that is my humble opinion.

I can imagine it looks very different in reality, compared to a photo on a screen.laptoprob said:Unlike RML's gold M2. I have seen it 'in the flesh'. More than a little tacky, but that is my humble opinion.

Anyone ever apply brass colored paint to their black zinc bodies to give the appearance of brassing?

As was mine-
these 7's are likely worth $2K apiece even though I've had my grubby mitts on them. Truth be told I bought both the 7's with the intention of keeping them till they or I die, so I'm not babying them. The 5 was initially going to be a camera I used a little and sold, but it has grown on me too much, but for some reason I have an affection for it and I'm always careful with it.
This M6 tho was a beater when I got it, and since I'm less than thrilled with it's handling I don't make much use of it. It will go one of these days, after I have a chance to manhandle an MP! I think I'll bring it to Montreal next time perhaps as a downpayment?
(Hopefully the MP will look enough like the M6 that she won't notice)

As I've said before, that Biogon looks very handsome on the M4.
Still debating with myself: silver or black biogon... silver or black... silver or black... ad infinitum.

I learned it as guitar acquisition syndrome, but it didn't take long to learn it was a disease with many venues.
