Let's see your shooter for the FSU contest

I just noticed that the Zorki is a 1957 so that makes it the same age as me and i might add it looks to be in much better condition ...

I think txfct sells on behalf of some charity as he has lots of camera gear but no batteries to test anything 🙂 oh darn!
As for borrowing a camera I don't even know anyone else who still shoots film let alone a FSU I seem to be the only fool in the village still doing that :bang:

Thanks to the kindness of a fellow rff member i have a fed2 on the way from Belgium, whether it will arrive in time i don't know but I;'m looking froward to it's arrival. Thanks Stefan.
Another rff member in NZ sent me some B&W film that he had too much of so i will try to shoot that if time allows otherwise it will be cheap color film done at the local lab in a hurry. Thanks Tom
I have not given up hope that i will be able to enter the contest ... miracles DO happen! If not this year watch out for next year because i will have been practicing ...a lot!
I see that we already have some entries ... very cool 🙂
 
Thats exellent Brian, Stefan, a great gesture, and i`m glad the PM got to the right guy🙂

Brian there is a two week `grace' period after the 31st , so looks like you are in.

I have complete faith in the Belgian Postal Service 🙂
The two week grace period to get film processed should give me time to take 3 good shots, hell 3 great shots. Military might be a bit tough but I'll find something.

That would be great. Package will go this morning if the Post Office is open (I'm not sure, and it's too early over here to give them a call). I'll let you know.

I'm looking forward to finding out what Belgians wrap their cameras in, if it was coming from Russia it would be brown paper and string, Belgians I'm sure are much more sophisticated 🙂

Maybe if it would apply, but it itself isn't made with one of these fine products 😀.

I left the russian paper out, but I also packed the leather case that came with it: be sure to keep your nose closed when you unpack that: these things smell like long worn socks (russian socks, I guess), and I can't get the smell out of the leather; I've kept in outside (in a dry place of course), hoping the smell would disappear, but ... well, now you know why I send it to New Zealand; I had to do SOMETHING to get rid of that smell 😀. Come to think of it while I write this: I might have tried shoe polish. I'll leave that to you to try it.

I will leave it outside too ... there must be something that gets rid of the smell (apart from petrol and a match) I remember the Fed that i owned once had the same charming odor.
 
Good to see the Kiev's from Morca & Mr. Fibble! I met a fellow from Russia awhile back & we were discussing camera's & he told me that russian made rifle scopes were some of the best in the world!
 
2 of my Mosin Nagants have Finnish cartouches; Unfortunately none of my MN rifles are live-firing weapons. They're all deactivated.
The 3.5x PU scope in my photos is also a modern reproduction, not a WW2 original.

Getting close to the end of the scanning run now, should probably have a contest entry within the next 24 hours 😉
