Let's see your vintage Contax

Mike, yes what you see here was bought at the same time approx, the lenshood is a zeiss, you have to careful when using it it will come off quite easily, i found out the other day that it doent like the cold outside at 34deg the shutter release would sometimes not fire, it has had a cleaning and service. when brought inside to operating at room temp worked perfectly. the Biogon i have yet use, but the multi finder i use on the Epson RD-1 works like a bomb with the 15 cv using the 21mm on the finder.

Onwards from 1938 the Contax logo font was modified - but yours might be from 1939 or later as well, the letter before the serial number inside will tell it as per this :

Z 1935/6, A 1936, B 1936, C 1936/7, D 1937, E 1937, F 1937/8, G 1938, J 1938/9, K 1939, L 1939, M 1940/42, N 1941/3

It's a K. So 1939. The war around the corner...or already started.

Contax IIIa

Contax IIIa

Here are a few shots of my newly acquired IIIa. The lens has a small ding in it on the outside ring, but the glass was very clean. Took a chance, put a roll of film through it and lucky me, no issues. Great little camera. Cant wait to post some images from it.

No more proud Contax owners here ? 😀

Here is one of mine : a nice and working M series Contax III with a wartime Sonnar 1.5 T (I picked this one more to collect than to use 😱; very unusual for me, I but have a soft spot for those Zeiss products).

I'm a very proud Contax IIIa shooter, but I don't have any pictures of it. Soon, I hope!

Absolutely phenomenal lens you have attached to it. Happens to be my second favorite after f/1.5 Sonnar 😛

Thanks. I have the the f/50mm and the f/8.5 Sonnar. Latter is supposed to be the "magic" lens. At least that's what they told me at the camera shop... worth more than the body and 50mm combined. <scratched head>

Will be fun, once I figure out how to use this universal viewfinder and dial it all in..

'38 contax

'38 contax

I bought recently a pre war contax II. The body from 37/38 and the sonnar lens from '38 so I gues that its form early '38.
Is a flash socket as you can see in the second image normal for such a old contax?
