Yes, I got it this way. Someone removed the 5cm finder and replaced it with a second accessory shoe.

So great you guys resurrecting this thread!
I sold my Standard as I have become a sort-of "one camera guy" and with a M2 and a IIIc, the Standard was one too many Leica for my logic. Then I sold the IIIc, I am now regretting selling the Standard, but doubt I will replace it again.

I would like to buy one of these next time I`m in the US. Tamarkin seems like a good place to start since they say their cameras are ready to shoot and have a warranty. Where else can I buy without worrying?

My Ic Standard that I bought from Westlicht Auctions in November 2018. I had the shutter curtains replaced by a local repairman in Osaka. It came with a Nickel Elmar 5cm 1/3.5

Thanks, it looked like new when I bought it and had rings of melted and dried grease and oil here and there. I took a gamble and sent it to the experts and they stripped it down completely and so on. When it was ready I spoke to the technician and asked what state it was in and he said it had hardly been used; no wear and tear but dried up lubrication everywhere and one rusty screw inside needed replacing.
It's 1938 so could have been used very little until the war started (1939) when film became unavailable and then forgotten or replaced by something better and/or - shall we say - liberated in Germany after the war...

I am enjoying this celebration of the Leica Standard. Thanks guys for posting images of your cameras here. My Standard was a trade for a very clean Canon RF camera, plus $200, I think.

The only difference between a Leica I model C and a Leica Standard is the diameter of the rewind knob. The rewind knob of the Standard is much thinner and that knob is extenable for a comfortable rewind of the film. The rewind knob of the Leica I model C is much thicker so you'll hurt your fingers when they collide against the viewfinder.

It's interesting that the cameras shown in the catalogues Leitz issued are called; firstly in the 1931 version, the "Leitz Leica Camera" with a minor variation "The Leica Camera with Compur Shutter" and then the "Leica Camera with Interchangeable Lenses". The first two with the hockey stick lock and the third with the button. (And of course the luxury* version... )
Then the 1933 catalogue talks of "Leica Models II, III and Standard" and five pages of description cover the II and III and then a single page for the "Leica 'Standard' Model".
The 1936 catalogue adds the IIIa and the 250.
The 1938 Catalogue covers the II and IIIb then the Standard and 250 only.
A similar (thick booklet) of 1928 catalogue has been seen and sold but I gave up bidding when the price got really silly. What's interesting is that the 1931 version has a code "L1st Photo 1 K engl" and the others the same up to 4 for 1938.
BTW, all my catalogues are the trade Wetzlar and London editions. The USA version is bound to be different.
