A strange thing happened on the way from the mail box to my home...
Leica has seen fit to send a letter to new M8 owners. The letter is a
very nice overview of the current position Leica has taken to deal
with the M8 issues.

In an attempt to smooth over the waves, they are also offering new M8
owners a 30% discount on Leica lens...

The only surprising thing to me was that I received the letter, as well. I bought mine a week after the 12/31 deadline passed and so am not eligible for the discount. When you register it you note, of course, the date of purchase. When I got the letter a couple days ago (directly from Solms, not NJ), my heart skipped a beat, thinking maybe they had extended the deadline (like they recently did with the two free lens-coding vouchers). I saw the price list and immediately started looking at that 50 Lux ASPH...

Alas, at the end they make clear that the 12/31 deadline is still in effect. I guess they're sending the letter out to all new M8 purchasers.
