LH-2 lens hood any good?

I have the LH-2 on my 50 and love it. Yes, there is some intrusion in the lower righthand corner but I've not found it to be problematic or distracting. Only problem with the LH-2 is the lack of a hood, but I'll live with that. Chuck 😀

Hi cbettis,

Many thanks for the reply! On your recommendation I just ordered one (along with a 39mm infrared filter) from Ffordes in the UK

I can live with a little intrusion into the frame... My 35mm and 90mm lenses do that and it doesn't bother me. I tend not to notice the lens when framing horizontal shots... It only becomes annoying when framing vertical shots with the lens in the top right corner.

I've got an LH-1 hood permanently attached to my 25mm lens and love it. I store the lens face down in the camera bag so there's no need for a lens hood. The viewfinder can be stored under/inside the hood.

My 35mm lens it the one that stays on the camera most of the time, so the 50mm with the lens hood will be stored the same way as the 25mm. Big lens hood tend to keep dust and fingerprints off lenses so there's less need for lens caps.

I am cosidering this hood too, and would like to know if it can be mounted reversed for compact storage, like many Leitz clamp on hoods? I think it would be a nice option, since I bought the 50/2.5 for my CL because of its compact size.
Happy easter!

My new hood turned up Saturday. Very nice it is too!

Having just checked, I can confirm that the hood won't mount backwards. The lens barrel of the 50/2.5 is too fat.

The intrusion into the 50mm framelines is very small at infinity and only becomes noticable at close focusing distances as the lens extends and the framelines move.

I've got an LH-2 on a f2.5 35mm Color Skopar. Hood is great, except that it really cuts into the viewfinder field for 35mm. I don't use it much for that reason. If I had a decent shoe mount viewfinder I probably would use this hood as it offers better protection that the small round one that comes with the lens.

Later,
Greg
