My dad (82) let me have his Contax G2 kit that has been laying nearly unused for years. Quite a shame ! So here I am, the happy owner of the whole kit with 4 lenses (28; 35; 45; 90) and the flash unit, plus all the necessary lenshoods and caps...He bought it in '99 and probably never ran more than a few films through it. More of a hoarder than a user, but he could afford quality...
I've just run a film and a half through the G2 during a trip to Brittany earlier in the week. I found it very user friendly, in the sense that it behaves like an autofocus SLR, so the focus then frame is a doddle. Very fast to use, and the ergonomics are perfect for me. Everything in the right place, and no much to worry about but the composition. I'll post some pics later on.

You have the camera system now that fits in fairly small bag. It's travel-friendly. Now you just need 21mm Biogon...

Luck comes at a price though...My old man has very recently been diagnosed with Alzheimer's in the early stage. He can still manage by himself, but we don't know how long it'll take before he starts drifting away... He's the one who taught me about photography and even let me try his Nikon F and Nikkormat back in the day. I still have the Vito B he used to take pictures of me as a kid in the '50s. It's a non worker with disintegrated shutter now, but I'll cling to it for the good memories it conjures up.
I definitely fell in love with this G2, and I know for a fact it won't disappoint me, plus the added affective value of course.

Best of luck to you and your father. He enjoyed giving it to you, and he knows you will use it. Great camera.

Its about as good as it gets for 35 mm. the lenses are fantastic. I also find my g1 a breeze to use.
