Just wanted to hear anyones experience with Live Books helping you design and host your website. I'm considering using them and from what I've read and seen so far they offer a really nice solution. In the end theuser has all the control in the end being able to adding and removing images really easy which was always a big problem for me.

Thanks your comments

I have a Livebooks site and just uploaded a portfolio on Haiti. I'd recommend Livebooks to anyone.

The only catch is your design - know what you want before you have them design it for you.

Nice work Peter. Can you explain more, I kinda know what I want in terms of feel for the look of the site in terms of design not so much. Are they easy to work with? I take it you have the unlimited package?

Thanks
Marko

Marco, thanks for the compliment.

Yes, I have the unlimited package. I found that the other package with the thumbnails on the side was too distracting.

The Livebooks people are terrific. I say "know your design" because they give you about 3 edits (otherwise they'd be on the hook for countless edit requests). I found that the best practice is to do your own mock-up in Photoshop and then email that to your designer. That way you've got your idea nailed down and there isn't a breakdown in font talk and all.

As for ease of use, it's probably as simple as it can get. They've done a great job of thinking through on uploads and presentation. I have several portfolios in the "client" area and haven't had a single client not figure out how to do it.

One last thing - since I've had my site, I've seen several other company sites go under. Livebooks seems the most stable company in the bunch. Once you get past the initial cost, it's relatively cheap.

Yeah, the upfront cost of the unlimited is a bit much for me right now. The middle package I can do. I read that I can upgrade at anytime which I might once I get going. I'm a fine art photographer for whatever that means, in terms of marketing your site how has using live books helped you in what your trying to do Peter?

Thanks Again,
Marko
