London during WWII in colour

Really enjoyed the photos, thanks for sharing the link. There is something special looking a photos from an era where the overwhelming majority are black and white. Like the color FSA pictures from the depression, the London pictures are outstanding!

Wonderful. Thanks. That Civil Defense warden close-up and the blurred bomb site is such a modern style of shot. The stillness of some of the shots is such a contrast to many fast action gritty black and whites of the Blitz.

Remarkable.

Is there any information on the film that was used and the process used to develop it?

The colour balance looks more natural than I'd expect from colour film of that era. Most images I've seen have a definite red tinge.

I suspect they may have adjusted the color balance in the prints. When I went to the ICP exhibition of Robert Capa's color photos, which included wartime examples, there was a very interesting display of the restoration process that highlighted the need to make such adjustments. FWIW, the Kodachrome negatives had relatively little degradation, while Ektachrome suffered terribly, to the point of the restorers having to make educated guesses about colors in some cases.

not trying to start a war but Gawd Film Rules,
the Colour is truly Magical !

The Brits during War time make it seem like just another Day...

This Dutch women (Jo) has a great collection of WWII photos. Here are some of her color was photos from USA:

Helen, she also has a 'Women at War' album which I can't find right now. It is impressive what women did (not making jam) in active combat.

Great links, thanks.

The colour images from the 30s' and 40s' are superb to view, especially so in colour. The second link showing the poor women lined up in a firing squad and the subsequent image of the aftermath still maintains the appalling impact and shock after so many years.
