It will be interesting to see how high these go. He seems to have a lot of nice Canon stuff there. Wonder why he's selling from Sweden on Canadian eBay...?

The black 7 even looks like a legit factory-black job -- at least the wear spots are brass. The P I'm not so sure about -- it looks as if it may be showing chrome under the wear marks, suggesting the possibility of an aftermarket repaint.

About the price of the 85/1.8 -- yes, it's on the stiff side, but considering that it probably performs at least as well as a pre-ASPH 90mm f/2 Summicron, that price might be justifiable purely as a usable item!

I suspect there's still a core of P, 7, and 7s cameras out there that are used for serious professional-level picture-taking -- the cameras are certainly robust enough to stand up to it, and in terms of usability features (except for metering) they don't lag that far behind modern RFs.

Since there's no way to backward-adapt currently-available M lenses to a screwmount body, and since fast tele lenses are one area in which Voigtlander hasn't yet offered a modern alternative, a serious user who needs a portrait-length tele for his "shooter" Canon would need to be looking for a lens like this. Obviously some such person found it!

You can get a nicer looking 85mm f1.8 from someone like Keven Cameras a highly respected dealer. If he has a nice one this summer I'm going to either pick one of those up or if I can find a 100mm f2.0 I'll get that and then pcikup the VC 75mm f2.5 and skip the 85mm for now.

But great lens wish I could figure out a way to couple my 85mm f1.8 nFD to my L-1 that would be sweet. (('m talking about coupleing to the RF cam not the body I can do that now and do with wide lenses but zone focusing a 85mm f1.8 no way short of f8!

If you ask me, too high! I've bought mine for ~400 USD (exc-)
There was a modified Leica-M (*no* adapter) which went for 200 EUR in German ebay last year (which was very cheap for exc+).. the reason I didn't bid was all my RF cameras are screwmount...
You will get a Summicron for that price.
cheers, Frank

Yup. Looks like I'll be buying this lens for the F1 or Pellix!

It's all our fault you know.

By the way. I have found the perfect solution for cutting back on cost and still buying and restoring antique cameras.

Jorge just needs to add the "Antique Digital Camera Forum" to Dslrexchange. But then again, how many other computer geeks are there that are into using old cameras...
