I just received an unopened copy from eBay of the (elaborately named) book Leica - An Illustrated History - Volume 1 - Cameras by the celebrated James Lager. Of course, it's now opened. 🙂 The 300+ pages are chock-full of Leica "boxes to hold the film" with select lenses and accessories. Besides the Army-issue conversation pieces, there are real oddities and rarities: gold M3, doppel (stereo), 750 (takes an entire 100' canister of film), Postcamera, and half-frame variants). I wouldn't mind a civilian KE-7A (60 copies made) with its dainty ELCAN 50/2 (aperture tab like a v2 'cron 35). There is full coverage for the usual topics: M3 ball-bearing back doors, wax seals, LTM flash sync, IIIc "steppers", post-war chrome pitting, etc, etc. Am now committed to getting the other two volumes (Lenses, Accessories).
