Looking for new film system, need users opinion

M + hassy would be cool for sure, but keep the Oly in mind. Lenses, bodies and accessories are reasonably priced. I have always found the look of a few of their lenses to be unique and pleasant. The 50mm f/3.5 is like no lens I have otherwise encountered - here's a pic:

A few of the other Zuikos are equally amazing.

"Professional Tools" is mostly just a marketing concept used to fleece amateurs. :)

Also, don't ascribe to tools what comes down to technique and materials.

Well im still at a cross roads but have arrived at the lenses i like most(still only looking at pictures of the same films isnt the greatest way to good conclusion.

21/2 zuiko
28/2 ssc maybe zuiko or hollywood
35/2 ssc
35/1.4 mmj/ais
to many 50s to list zuiko ais ssc L summi
85/2 zuiko

and of course the leicas in each respective focal length.

For bodys its between f3php(still think the original nikon F looks the best) and canon f1new

I think most all of these lenses, through leitax, can be adapted to the canon can they not? or are those only for Eos? In earnest I usually stick to 28 or 35. The Rare close portrait would be 50. So if i did get a long zuiko it would probably be the 90 for macro, even then I like wide angle macros as odd as that sounds.

Thanks again for all the help and opinions!

I wouldn't bother with adapting, the only thing FD lenses can easily adapt to is mirrorless digital. You'd also give up auto aperture mixing non-native lenses with film bodies, even if they technically can be adapted...

If you are talking about adapting those lenses to EOS, then yes, they can be adapted to EOS. I've used QBM lens (Rollei 35mm lens by Zeiss), Zuiko and Leica R.

Adaptable to FD? don't think so.

Best regards.

I have to put my two cents in. Looks at a BLAD.

The Zeiss lenses have a lovely signature. I shot with RZs, not RBs, and the lenses were great. I liked them for what I did. But had way more bite than the Blad lenses. The Mamiyas are BIG, but the mirrors are well dumped and the RZ had a 2 stage cable release that really reduced vibration. But from what you say I think you'd like the Blad lenses, and newer ones are quite serviceable. They are plenty sharp but lower contrast at the same time.

PLUS, the Rich and Famous will take note!

I used to shoot for a medical company w/ Blads. I was in an operating room shooting a knee replacement. This poor dude had his knee hacked apart and leg held together by ligaments.

The Doc is like, Wow is that a Hasselblad? Is that the 60mm Distagon? How do you like it?

The Distagon rocked. I'm thinking to myself, isn't this guy's leg held together by a thread?

Great camera. Great lenses. Notoriety doesn't hurt

The blads, I must admit, are nerve bitingly elegant. That silver trim gives a hint of luxury locomotive, offspring of fine craftsmanship and industry as one. Not to mention that look of Zeiss'iness

For being so cheap, I like the look of the sac canon lenses. The 35 1.4 ais isn't to bad either. Is the f3php and f1new about the same noise wise?

I've had a couple of F3s one an f3p and was never really impressed, have at last count at least five Fs and two or three F4, but my favourite Nikon is F2 with plain prism it feels like a improved F. As for F3 v New F1 I have a couple of New F1s bought in the early 90s and they are really amazingly built cameras in my opinion Canons best ever made camera and far superior build than the Nikon F3.
Remember there are three Canon F1s, F1n and New F1.
On the other hand I really like Olympus Om, Om2 best viewfinder I've ever seen.
In no particular order I would choose-

Nikon F2
Nikon F4
Olympus OM2
Olympus OM4 or T
Canon New F1
or maybe something modern Canon Eos 1v.

good luck!
ps. you could always try a Pentax LX!

The 21/2 Zuiko is one of "the other Zuikos [that] are equally amazing".
