You can take my collapsible Elmar in the classifieds : )
I've gotten some good "old time" looks with it. I wouldn't sell it but I found a Canon sonnar f/1.5. The Elmar isn't too hard to find so if I miss it I can always find another one.
The inline images don't seem to take so here are URLs.

I should think that you would find either the Rigid or Dual Range Summicron the most useful.
A Jupiter lens is worth a try though.

Flim Forever!
I like the early uncoated Elmar. It's a classic Tessar design, difficult to use but rewarding.
The Canon 50/1.4 will "glow" wide open, but is also quite sharp. I've heard that it is a Xenon design.
The Summilux 50/1.4 is very sharp wide open, very shallow dof, but it's too modern for "glow". It's a really great lens.
I don't like the Summitar personally, but I've seen a lot of nice photos that were taken with it.

I have found the Summitar to be a splendid lens but it seems to get little respect compared to the other Leitz offerings.....good luck with yours dog.

Why difficult to use?...I did'nt like sticking my finger in the front - to adjust the diaphragm....but that's about all!I like the early uncoated Elmar. It's a classic Tessar design, difficult to use but rewarding.

I have nice 50 collapsible Summicron, with heavy cleaning marks, lots of dust inside, and possibly fungus. It will you the look you seek. Cheap too at $100.
$100? Where?

50mm f2 Summicron shot at f2. Using XP2 and yellow filter. It's the version of Summi that is rigid and has the locking infinity button. Sorry I'm just not up on all the lens lingo.

Thanks Dave. I printed it the other day on ADOX FB and it looks really nice. An 11x14 would not be out of the question.

For "old looks" I am partial to Vario-Lightroomicron.
You can make anything looks old with presets.

summarit 50mm f1.5 from 1953, LTM
#1 is from an m3/summarit 50 on velvia 100, at f1.5
#2 is from an m8/summarit 50 at f2.8 or 4, no code or filter.
either way, it's worth including in a list of candidates with an "old look"
greetings from hamburg

Yes, of course. Why would I comment on a lens I've never used?

I found I had to work with different films and apertures to get the look I wanted, because of the low contrast. It also flares really easily so I have to be more careful about where the light's coming from. Also it's really slow.
