Looking for writers.

Strong in the Force, you are. Type like Yoda, you do.

To get the voice right, I want.
Imitating Master Yoda's voice, like Sean Connory I sound. 😛

Sean Connery: master of impersonating various foreign accents. He was brilliant as a Russian submarine captain in Red October. (where's the sarcasm icon?)

Similar to his stint as an Irish police officer in "The Untouchables" 😉

If you ask me, the lines "Give me one ping Vasilli; one ping only" and "You said you wanted to get Capone. Do you really wanna get him? You see what I'm saying is, what are you prepared to do?" are about as classic as any William Shatner line; only without the overacting. 😀

And if you thought Connery's voice skills are something to be envied 😉 then I'm sure you'll envy his acting skill just as much when you consider the classic Connery film "Zardoz". The two words that best describe this film are "Utterly unwatchable" 😀

Cheers
Dave

Heeeey! Connory is one of my favourite actors! No need to dis him like that! 🙂 And no, I haven't seen al of his films (could be a good thing) and I don't care much for his doing voices. I care more for the acting, which IMO he's surely not bad at.

OK, I'll go lie in a corner here so y'all can kick the daylights out of me. 😱

ahh.. but Ramius wasn't russian.. he was Lithuanian by birth.. raised by his paternal grandfather.. and we all know the similarity between lithuanian and irish/scottish dialects.. only Connery can be that ingenious!

Jorge,

I write copy professionally, not articles as of yet (only print and outdoor advertising, mostly for PBS, Court TV and other networks) but I've been interested in trying my hand at it for awhile.

If you give me some advance notice I'd be happy to put something together. I've been thinking of writing a piece on photography etiquette in foreign countries for a little while. I have some funny material from my travels. Let me know if that sounds right for your pub.

Ah, yes. There's a little inside joke between my girlfriend and I. Whenever we see Connery (on TV, etc), I say "Je suis Connerie, Jean Connerie..."

I agree with FrankS.

--------- so ...

Any status on this?

Jorge,

Definitely interested. Actually, I have much more experience writing than shooting. I've written for a variety of venues, though nothing resembling a photo mag. If you need an experienced writer/newbie RF photographer, I might be your guy. I can also put you in touch with a journalist friend who uses RFs on the job.

Seriously, and I don't see how I coulda missed this thread, I might suggest, like with another suggestion here, that you consider a publication concentating on traditional photography and traditional methods, and not just limit it to rangefinders.

With the mainstream magazines going more and more {D-word} each month, I think there would be a demand for a publication for those of us who still appreciate the photochemical based sensors. 🙂

Jorge, in October 2004 the British weekly *Amateur Photographer* carried a 600-word piece of mine on Cartier-Bresson. In its original form it was around 1,600 words long, but the editor had only a short slot available. He said that I was free to use the original version elsewhere. I can send that to you if you wish and if you give me an e-mail address to which I should send it. No commitment on either side. I am uthappam@gmail.com and my name is Mukul Dube.

Well, I've written a little, and photographed a lot (much more of the latter's been published). This does sound interesting, so I'm raising my hand...

I am interested in participating... I'd especially be interested in helping out on the proofing/editing side of the business.

Let me know...

One article of mine have been published in a photography magazine. I would like to contribute, however English is my second language and am not certain if my pieces would be up to the standards with respect to grammar and vocabulary.

As much as I hate doing it, people have told me that I'm a good editor. If anyone does this and happens to need someone to do any proofreading/editing on their work, I can be of service in that way perhaps. English is my first language, I read the dictionary when I was a child, and I've written numerous unpublished things. I tend to find mistakes even in novels that have already been edited. Perhaps I should consider this more as a career path. 😉

I imagine that if this thread stays up long enough, eventually everyone will respond with a yes.
You can say that again 😀! Count me in. I shall provide the amateur photog who knows just enough technospeak to be dangerous. Check my photo blog for a sample of my work. But yes, seriously, I am interested. Maybe several permanent columnists with several roatating/visiting columnists would be a good system. This would give both a nice stable readership along with fresh perspective every issue.

I am interested. Maybe i will see if that four years of education was worth a damn. I am currently a working photojournalist who tries to work with rangefinders as much as possible.
