Loose strap lugs on my m2...need advice please

Hello everybody, my friend just gave me his m2 to use for as long as I want, he doesn't use it anymore and he hasn't used it in awhile....the option to buy it is there, or I can just use it and decide later (much later)....

I shot a test roll with it today to check the shutter speeds and as I was looking at it I noticed that one of the strap lugs wasn't at the right angle, upon closer inspection, I learned that both of the strap lugs can turn pretty easily... (I haven't developed the roll yet)

I dont really need another m camera and all, but I am wondering...

is it an easy fix, and if so, once it is fixed, is it "good as new" or will they come loose again...and about how much does it cost to fix them and who fixes them....I am wondering because he has no use for the camera anymore and I seriously doubt once he finds out about the strap lugs, he won't bother to fix them anyways.....

does anybody have experience with this kind of repair..thanks in advance

Any tech familiar w/Leicas (Leica NJ, Essex, DAG, Sherry Krauter, etc., in the U.S., don't know about Thailand) can fix the strap lugs & once done (correctly), it's permanent, unless you manage to damage the lugs. I don't believe it's a difficult repair, so shouldn't cost too much.

If the one on the right, take up spool side is loose, it will cause light leaks. On the left this will occur much less. But loose is loose. You might try to glue them tighter, but I think this will be difficult. They are mechanically fastened, don't know the correct word. A good repairman can easily fix this. Shouldn't be expensive I guess.

I had mine break out of my M4-2, only just caught the camera.

thanks guys,,,I will email Youxin and see what he says...he usually works on my early M's....Sherry has my m6ttl now and it is getting repaired....just thought I would check here first....

I have loose lugs on my M3, and I do observe some weird spots on my pix. Is that the light leak caused by the loose lug?
