On the alert
Why would you want to invade England? It's a dump -most of us are saving up to go and live in France - not because its's better just because it really annoys the French

Jon, what happened to your old avatar... Sean Connery wearing a straw hat, if I recall correctly.

I hope you guys have seen the movie "Office Space". If you haven't, you've missed
the only genuinely great American comedy of the past ten years. It's a must.

The ultimate test: a roast. Put it in the "completely different" forum. Don't use profanity or talk about my family.

Wow, Frank... you're quite daring!
RJBender said:Wow! What was it used for and how much scrap* value is in something like that?

A lot of it went to the Smithsonian. Most of the Bipolar Chips used (about 140,000) had gold caps. It was a lot of gold. The CPU time was $970 per hour. I re-wrote programs to execute faster, and saved way more than I cost in salary.
The Programming Manual that I have from the 1946 IBM Mark I would buy me a new Nikon SP-2005. I still need to get it to the Smithsonian. It was being tossed from the Library in 1979. I saw a speech by Grace Hopper in school, and brought it along to be autographed. She was surprised, and told me she personally wrote it.

unfortunately the load up time here is dial up, even for us that have DSL. What gives? Most often I just get frustrated and go over to PNET. Nothing personal.

Joe,
Are you perhaps talking about the _TV_ show "The Office?" On NBC? That is indeed based on the UK show, but the _movie_ Office Space is, AFAIK, "unique."
