Ah cicular logic you gota love it. maybe I should just delete this thread as i am not sure where it's going. Man I don't belive this has now gone to 3 pages
Jon Claremont said:No he is not. He's a nice guy and is building a great community but seems to have to move servers frequently and the site needs tidying up.
Even if speed increases after the the next server move we'll be back here within six weeks needing a new server.
And there are site-wide errors which I told Jorge about several months ago.
I run sites myself and if somebody told me of a spelling error on a landing page I'd correct it same day. Jorge hasn't done that in about six months since I pointed it out, and that makes him seem like somebody who is not on top of his site.
As well as the spelling Jorge needs to sort out the speed issues, make the navigation consistent and rationalize the forums.
Thank you Jorge for setting up this site, I like what you write also, but it's time to get the professionals in to take it to the next level.

If a thread disappears and you want to get/stay involved, you'll know where to find it: on the "Forums" page. Since it is hidden from view on the "Active Forums" page, most will be spared from having to view it, and visitors may miss it too. Perhaps it should be open to registered members only, as it probably does not demonstrate our finest qualities. Jorge has said that there will be no censorship on the "completely different" forum other than for profanity. If you feel like an arguement, go over there.
Hello I've come here for an arguement.
No you haven't.
Yes I have.
No you haven't.
Well, this is hardly a good argument.
Yes it is.
You're jsut disagreeing.
No I'm not.
PS: Any"Why was my thread moved" posts would be moved there as well and folks could complain to their heart's content. Just don't swear. 🙂

Jon Claremont said:I do run sites. This one is crawling with advertisers (sponsors) and easliy makes a profit from what they pay.
The vBulletin software is off the shelf and very inexpensive, and the server rental is really not very much at all.
Once it's set up, a one day job at most, Jorge can carry on with his day job, leave his volunteer mods to keep things humming and invoice the advertisers.
I like RFF and the people here but it has many faults technically.

Since you work in the field naturally you'd notice any technical faults. I've been here for a few years and haven't noticed these staring-me-in-the-face horrible faults you speak of.
jlw said:Maybe what we need is to develop an alternative method of sellling in which split-second timing isn't as critical. This doesn't HAVE to be eBay Junior, ya know!
When I've sold things on RFF, I've usually done it on the basis of "best offer received by date X," setting date X far enough in the future that reasonably regular visitors have a chance to stumble across it.
It's just common sense that if you want to get the best price for your item, you want to give people plenty of time to up the price.

I hunch the ones who hang around here everyday and post like madmen dont' do much photography. The ones who do are not here, I am pretty sure.
