what a neat little lens!!

even though i have been taking my kit with me when heading out...i leave all but the 27 in the trunk of my car!
that lens on the x-e1 is just so perfect in the hand...

i'm thinking of starting a project called '27' and just using that one lens for all the shots!

the 18/27/60 seems like the perfect kit...i'm keeping the 35 because it's such a great lens and i might use it again in the future...but really...i rarely have need for speed, especially with such great high iso images from the fujis!!
the 18 without a hood and the 27 (no hood available) could fit into the smallest camera bag...

and i love the images it produces to boot...almost sonnar in appearance...soft corners till 5.6 or so!

i think i'm in love!

i have an old streamline 100 bag (lowepro?) and the body with 27 and the 18 + sd cards + batteries fit perfectly into it!

Would you mind posting photos of the camera setup with the 27? Im planning on getting a 27 soon for my XE1, but finding images of the combo is hard to come by. Your high spirits of the lens have me excited to purchase. Thanks for anything you can do!

Yep.. I plan to stick that lens on my xe1 almost exclusively. The xp1 gets all the other lenses. 🙂.

So far looks like a winner to me.

From what I have read lately.. Even te new cheaper xc line is not going to sacrifice on picture quality. The trade off they plan to make are in things like cheaper af motor, no aperture ring and other areas that will not affect overall picture quality.

The lack of aperture ring is a dealbreaker for me, unfortunately. The reason I love the X-Pro1/X-E1 experience is that it closely mimics shooting with manual film cameras. Without an aperture ring, I may as well be shooting with a Canon DSLR, to be honest.

Image quality looks great, though, from the examples I've seen.

In the pics 3d for this lens I put a pic of the camera (taken with my cell phone, I'm sorry....) compared to the X100S....they are almost the same size....(XE1+ 27+ filter+ lens cap....)

the experience is no different than when using the 35 or 18...the process is slightly different because i turn a wheel on the back of the camera instead of a ring on the lens itself.
you're missing out...

I've been looking forward to this lens since it was first rumored. Good to hear you like it so much. Reviews on the web say, like you, that the center of images are sharp and the corners are soft until f8 or so. That's the kind of lens I like the most.

The reviews also mention that the autofocus on the 27 is somewhat noisier than the Fuji lenses. What do you think about that? Thanks.

i can hear it focus...but i would not label it as noisy...of course, my hearing isn't as good as it used to be either!!

i honestly think we have become a bunch of picky consumers who concern ourselves with just too much triviality...

I've been moving away from soft releases...they seem to fall off all the time and get lost.

Also afraid they will do some damage when caught on material or camera bag etc.

They look and feel nice, but the camera buttons seem to work fine without them...

It's not a "lame reason". It's a perfectly valid reason, insofar as it's MY REASON.

I'm very familiar with back of the camera aperture control. That's how Canon DSLRs work. It's not "slightly different" from having the aperture ring on the lens barrel. When the aperture ring is on the lens - which is where may left hand is anyway - it's simple to change the f/stop. When it's on the back of the camera, it's an extra movement.

I prefer the ergonomics of the former. Apologies if that offends you.
