Mr. K has just lowered the USA R4M and R4A price

From $749 to $669.

It looks like NOT being tied to the Euro is turning out to be a good thing.

Leica raises their new camera prices $800 or so dollars. CV lowers theirs $100 or so dollars. Do we see a trend here?

The price drop surprises me, given the weak US dollar. Maybe sales are a bit slow, and Cosina wants to provide an incentive to buy-who knows. Anyway, I am more tempted than ever....

I've never used a Bessa before so can't compare but the R4 is a very well made body IMO. The camera is excellent value at this price.

I'm shure this is a hint for an upcoming sensational Voigtländer release like a digital R5 with extra long baselength! ;)

I am not big into Bessas - I only use and own a R2S, the Nikon mount - but this is for sure an interesting move. With a sharply weakening dollar (and with most analysts predicting this trend to continue over the next year or so), with high raw material prices etc and so on this indicates either that sales is slow and there is a need to inject some momentum at the cost of the margin OR that there are new models in the pipeline and you need to clear out stock before they are released!

Maybe something digital ?

Does anyone own and use an R4M? Or an R4A for that matter? I'd like to hear some rff owner feedback. As they appear available now at cameraquest I assume somebody on the forum may have purchased one.

Thanks

Ted

Joe, how do I find owner reports in RFF? Obviously I'm not looking in the right place.

And, as I just ordered a 21/4 mit viewfinder from the bartender, and as I notice you have one, what's your opinion of it so far?

Ted

i don't think we have one place for owner reports ted.

i am biased as i like all the cv lenses. the reality is with my shooting style, on the move in the street, i doubt i could tell the difference between most lenses.
but i do love the small size coupled with the built in frame lines of the r4.
for folks who like wides the r4 is a great choice if you use the smaller cv lenses. it will fit perfectly on your r and soon you wont need the finder as you get used to using the 21.
