Somebody said Screw Mount Leica?
This is my only Leica and it is much loved with a small bunch of 28, 35, 2x50, 85mm lenses.
In 2013 I took only a Leica II (not this one but its predecessor) with 2 lenses to Berlin. And had great shots from it.

shoot it till you get tired of shooting it, charlie. which may never happen, and that's a good thing. i have yet to tire of shooting my Ms or my F3. i usually take both on a trip, but i know i'd be perfectly fine with one body and one lens.
regarding LTM bodies/lenses, they're such fiddly things compared to the M. they're small and beautiful, yes, i'll give you that.

Hi,
FWIW, I think Ireland needs a wide angle lens in the bag and, perhaps, an 85 or 90 for details now and then.

Just to mention that, from my experience, repainted screw thread cameras never cover their costs when selling however good they may be.

I have done this, but I really like a W/A viewpoint, so I usually include one small W/A lens.

Sounds like a great idea. I've gone on many trips with just my IIIf and the 50/3.5 Elmar. Simple, capable, compact. Later on I got a 35/3.5 Summaron too, tiny lens, good companion to the Elmar.

Back to film and X rays.
I had 12 X ray events in one trip, 3 for a single flight from Moscow.
Tri X at 400 ISO showed not the slightest fogging after X Tol developer.
I have had more trouble in Europe having hand inspections, in
Switzerland I was told X ray or no flight.

Next vacation I take it will be with this Leica IId, but with the Nikkor 35 lens only. It is so easy to carry, so natural to handle, I hardly have to think about it.

LTM fever has bit me too ...
Am having 'CameraworksUK'

In 2015, I went to Ireland and Amsterdam. My principal film camera on the trip was my beloved Leica IIIc, with a Summitar 50 and Canon 35/2.0, and lots of TMax 400. It was a great set-up and I liked the results I got. I did take an Olympus XA, with color film, and a small digital camera for color as well, but the IIIc was the main shooter. I would bring this set-up again.

I've had my IIIf since 1964 and a IIIc for a year before that. After all that time I'm still confused why it takes the sharpest pictures of any of my 35mm cameras. I have about 12 other 35 mm cameras and the IIIf is always the sharpest. And using the Elmar f 3.5 50mm on my Bessa R don't seem as sharp. I wonder if the combination of an excellent RF and precise film placement are the answer. But who knows?
I didn't take mine to Ireland.

I know what you're saying there. I have the same experience. Something about the little Barnack, it just keeps making pictures, before you know it, bam, roll's all gone.
Can't wait to see your iiif when you get it back Helen.
Best,

I was in Ireland during october a couple of years ago with a new (to me), Leica M2, Jupiter-8, Jupiter-12 and locally sourced b&w film. I enjoyed it very much.
A few notes:
Use ISO400 film, my exposure on overcast days was f/5.6, 1/125, EI400. With ISO100 and your Elmar f/3.5 your handholding skills are tested.
In Dublin you can buy film here:

This is very good advice. When I was in Ireland a few years ago, also in the fall, it was very dark due to thick cloud cover. Doesn't have to be that way but it can.
