Already seen an M6 cheaper there than eBay.. however.. is it USD or?

I can't see this being the case. There were more M film camera users prior to digital.

Only in the UK, and the import duties will be prohibitive if you're outside the EU.

Maybe the best Leica right now is a Canon P.

The Canon P is a damn good camera, very much like a Leica.
Sure, they are both rangefinders, but the shutter and its shape make it very un-leica like IMO.

I wouldn't have been able to buy an M at these prices either. Although it seems LTM's are down.

Deals are there; just remember that an M body is only worth what you're willing to pay for it. Don't just get one because you're worried that prices are going to go up more.
OTOH (shameless plug), I can't seem to find a goggled Summaron for my new M3 for the life of me. If anyone has one, see my WTT/WTB ad in my signature!

I paid $600.00 for mine in 09' from Brooklyn Camera. They rated it as an 8 due to edge wear but the true rate is 8- because the previous owners name is professionally engraved on the back. I found this rate grade in a photo book which is not at my fingertips to credit the author. He believes that any visible engraving lowers the grade to a minus (-) which I think makes some sense.
The most important aspect is the camera works fine for its age. No service records came along; the only provenance was the engraved name. I do think it had some service as it operates smoothly and the meter works. I just can't get used to that shutter release.

I already have a leica iiif so I'm not going to settle for anything less than another leica.
I'm only a starving student for another month and them I'm a college graduate and can start saving up for a leica. So price is no issue, the only issue is time.
I would like one as soon as I could get it, but in reality I'tt probably be a couple months before I can even pick up a body. Then I'll sell all my nikon/bronica/canon gear to pay for a lens. Simple as that.
Well, when I was in your position (almost), a new graduate, one of the things I did want was a "good" camera, and specifically a Leica. I didn't buy a Leica, would have been an M4-p and I do wish I did. But, I took a lot of really nice photos with my old SRTs until I bought an EOS 10s, and then for another bunch of years until I cured my rangefinder want.
So I think you do have to be patient and follow your plan.
A good P though is an excellent camera, just like a Leica.

I already have a few excellent cameras. So buying a leica isn't just me looking for a 'good' camera. It me wanting to buy something and only use that thing for the rest of my life.. Even though I have good cameras already I still buy and collect many. But the way i see it is if I get my dream cam, then there is no reason to buy others.. If that makes any sence
Nope, that makes no sense at all. 😉 But then I am not shy to admit that I am a collector as well as a very amateur photographer. Nothing wrong with being both.

I almost bought an M6 about 15 years ago but was put off by the size of the thing; they look bigger in black chrome, for some reason.
I used LTMs for years, but they are fairly slow to shoot with. Then Ken Rockwell's write-up convinced me to buy an M3 and you know what? He was right. Then I bought an M2 as well, which is very nearly as good although the frame counter isn't as nice and I wouldn't much want to use the 90mm lens with it. An M2 and an LTM Summaron 35/3.5 makes a wonderfully portable combination.
I'm glad I didn't buy that M6, because I'd probably never have tried the M3 and M2. Metering is neither here nor there for me, since I've used a hand meter since about 1997 and it's far more accurate.

I too noticed the lack of Leica equipment at KEH. Its certainly not the candy shop it was a year or two ago. I asked one of their workers when I placed an order a month ago. He said people are buying up the lenses to use with the new digital cameras. That might explain the lenses but what about the camera bodies.
A few years ago when I was overseas there were lots of old German cameras on the market and then the next year none. I was told that they were bought up by rich Chinese business men.
