Not that I am looking for a project, but do you think that a camera with this shutter condition could be repaired and may turn out to be a good bargain for a low price?

shutter is working, but will require service since it's irregular, and a small part of the second blind remains in the light path during exposure.

sounds like Youxin can fix it (US 80), if the camera has no meter ...

Roland.

If that's the only thing wrong with it, I'd say it's worth the trouble. But a camera that's been run down so far to get into this condition is also often run down in a lot of other respects. I'd get an estimate for a complete overhaul, including RF, mirrors, beam splitters and what not..

This was just about a perfect description of the problems on the black M3 before it went off to CRR. Peter described it as a shutter brake problem. Well you know how pleased I am with it now. 😀

If you can get it for a reasonable price and figure in the service, you will have a camera that you know will last rather than one that might need work in a year or 2.

Other than some price cutting cosmetics like ugly covering and meter marks the shutter is said to be the only mechanical issue from a good seller. We shall see where it goes.

Why does everyone say that Youxin doesn't work on a camera with a meter? He did a CLA and recover of my M2....and did such a great job hat I figured it wouldn't hurt to at least ask him if he would CLA my M6...he said sure send it...and he did a great job on it, too. So, he does work on cameras with meters.

WHAT? He told me in an email that he doesn't work on Leicas with meters! It would be great if I could take mine to him since he's only a 1 hour drive away.

Does anyone know who has the quickest turnaround on Leica CLAs?
