How many are using the M Hexanon 50 on their Leica m bodies? Do you like the results and do you find them to be comparably to the 50 Summicrons?😕

I have used the 50 hex on a zeiss ikon a bit, I found it to be a solid lens with less contrast then the current 50 cron and not as sharp, that said its still sharp and the lens has a love/hate character. Um....it seems I dont have any scans on me and the moment but ill try to post something later.

I've used the 50 Hexanon on the R-D1 and that lens rocks. And I prefer the handling of the Hexanon *much* more than any 50 Summicron I've had. (P.S. keep in mind I am a humble amateur, i.e., what the heck do I know 🙂)

What he said. I can't speak for the 50mm M-Hexanon, but the 28mm M-Hexanon handles so much better than my old DR Summicron. That doesn't mean I don't like my Summicron. I do. I do. BUT, the Konica lens handles better. Looks good too. Makes great images. Correction: It's capable of making great images. Someday maybe I'll make one.

I've got it, I use it on a M body. I think the Hex is different from the 'cron; although, I hesitate to say why and how. 🙄 It doesn't have the Leica "look." But different isn't bad. I think joe (back alley) described the Hex look best when he said his 90 Hex (in comparison to the 90 'cron) had a more "dramatic" look. For me that works for the whole Hex line. 🙂

The Hex lenses are beautiful and well made, some of the best looking and handling lenses, imo.

There are at least three of us using the 50mm Hexanon-M in the Toronto area; myself, GeneW, and Monochromejrnl (Ken).

I'm pretty sure it's safe to say that we all love it.

Gene uses his on his M2.
I use mine on my M2 and M7.
Ken uses his on the M4-2 and M3.

It's a great lens and one that, at about only $450 USD Maximum, is a great bargain for a modern day m lens.

Me too! And it might just come up for sale one of these days... In my book it's every bit as good as the Cron, but I feel the need to liquidate some assets, so...

I'm using Hexanon 28, 35, 50 and Summicron 35 IV on Epson RD1s and Voigtlander R2a. My favourite is the Hexanon 50. It has some special magic to it, especially for people shots.

I'm using the Hexanon M 50mm F1,2 lens, I'm going to develop my test rolls today, and see if there is a slight focusing problem or not with the 1,2 lens. Some say there is, som say there's not.

Having the camera mounted on a tripod and shifting between my Hexar RF and my M6 I could not see any difference in the viewfinder...

I use the hex 50 F2 and a 'cron 50 (latest). There really is nothing to choose between them. There are shots from both in my gallery. If I could only keep one, it would be the Hex. In value for money terms the Hex beats the 'cron hands down.

That's good because you wouldn't see any difference. The vf is independent from the lens used. 🙂

Shot with the 50mm Hexanon-M wide open. Tri-X @ 1600 and M7 used.

Matsuyamastore (sp?) was selling new 28mm, 50mm, and 90mm Hexanon-Ms on eBay a short while back. Don't know if he has any more. I bough them and really like them on my M bodies and R-D1.
