I printed a 1.5 metre (length) photo from the M8 and it looks great - even up close.24 MPixels was the standard I defined as my desire in a digital camera in 2001, before I even bought my first digital camera, because I wanted that level of capability based on my calculations of a good 16x20 photo as I defined above. Since then, I've owned .7, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7.5, 10, 12, 16, 18, 20, and now 24 mpixel cameras. I've produced probably 12,000 photographic prints in sizes from 1x1.5 inch to 30x45 inch with them. None of the lower resolution cameras dissuaded me of the need for 24Mpixel resolution: It's obviously easier to do the larger sizes in that range with more pixels than with less. I've now got two current Leica cameras ... M-D and SL ... and their 24 mpixel sensors make photographs that finally satisfy me, much as I expected they would.

I'm sure this has been mentioned in this thread already, but it should be titled "The newest digital camera has destroyed the price of the previous one"
Case in point:
Nikon D810 now $1600 on the used market, with the release of the D850. Previously it was a $3200 camera new.
Sony A7Rii now $1700 on the used market, with the release of the A7Riii. Same thing.

Sony has original A7 still made and sold as new with warranty (under $1K on BH). And it is done this way by Sony not only for this particular camera.
Canon 6D came down to around $1.4K well before MKII came. It is also still available as new at $1.2K or so price.
Leica still making M7 I don't know why Leica killed M9/M-E line instead of keeping in production and selling it at 3K$ price tag... Here is big difference between 3K and 6K. And here is no digital RF cameras made by someone else...

This thread's title is so ridiculous that it makes me sad every time it surfaces on the homepage...
Indeed, probably the most ridiculous thread on this whole forum...

It depends on the model, and whether you consider percentage or dollar amount.but leicas hold their value better than everything else, right?

Sure! A new M7 - currently available - costs $4550. I bought mine used in perfect shape for $1500. High serial # too.
The M240 is still a current production model. $6600 to $7000 at BH Photo video. Used, $3000-ish.
Same thing will happen to the M10 once the waiting list has been fulfilled. I think Leica intentionally under produces to create the anticipation for the product and thus justifies the price tag.
"The waiting list is 4 months long, it must be worth $6800!.."
