M10 images leak

Or perhaps you are just not the type of user that buys a Leica? Honestly, Leica is doing exactly what it should do with these cameras. They have a SL as their modern, forward thinking camera. The M should not be turned into a "me too" camera or it'll lose everything that makes it special.

No..I have several Leica film bodies and a crapload of Leica M & R lenses... most of which I actually adore......and have used them for decades..
But for that kind of cash..the M better do more than just stills...at this point in time for me..to get me to whip out the credit card..
IMO..sooner or later..their philosophy of selling to old guys w/cash and a HCB fantasy..who are looking for a hobby..but just taking pics of their cars, dogs and babies.. is going to wear real thin for them...
So I think they are up to their same old tricks...squeezing every last penny out of their wealthy customers..with minor upgrades every few years..like this m10 sounds like..
This is all cool though..keep it simple...just stills and chop every feature off the cam...I get it..pretend its 1960 again..
But I need a cam to be used as a pro tool...not a hobby cam...and that means stills and video in a compact package..I would luv to use an M for my work...and I can write some of it off at the end of the year too..but at this point in time..its a non starter because of its lack of versatility....and likely to remain so..

They'll reserve the SL as their "do it all" camera and keep the M line as a "heritage" camera

I'll buy into that approach ... as long as ''less'' is not going to cost ''a lot more''. This said, I'm quite relaxed about it all: if the M10 will be priced above what I'm willing to pay for a digital rangefinder camera, I'll consider the M262 as a replacement for my M-E.

When I first started photography with my DSLR it was just a little hobby.
It wasnt until I purchased my M8 that I really became passionate about photography. I really enjoyed the fact that I was more involved with what I was creating. The M8 is what inspired me to go back to school and study photography and begin a second career with something I love. I have shot weddings, charity events, products and portraits with my M8. I later upgraded to a M240 and supplemented it with a fuji Xpro1 and recently xpro2. I have even started a bit of film work with a old M3 I found and fixed up a bit. I understand the limitation of the camera but I do not want to use a different type of camera. I do not consider myself old or rich. I am a 29 year civil servant and I shoot weddings on the side. I have saved my money from my weddings and plan on upgrading to the M10. For me I never used the video features on either the M240 or the fuji. I love shooting my older M lens and Canon ltm lens.

The only 2 things I wanted for the new M were higher iso and an upgraded evf. (extra SD card slot would have been nice)

Well, I am not a pro shooter, but I am an amateur user, not a fondler. I for one appreciate the enhanced usability of the M240 and there will be no going back to a curtailed camera. I buy a camera to carry with me to record what I see, not to promote some philosophy.

That is why everyone buys a camera. Philosophy promoting is done by personally proselytizing and forum posting, not camera buying.

Not sure how buying a camera and not using it is promoting a philosophy, unless it is the philosophy of camera collecting, but I take your point.

I don't understand either, but it tends to lead to endless forum discussions whether some button or feature of the camera leads to the "camera being less pure" "destroying the concept" or even "impairing the feeling of taking a photograph"

Well, it is just an extension, albeit extreme, of the minimalism that drives some photographers away from DSLRs with their complex menus and array of buttons to Leica. People draw lines in different places.

No, I don't, but I guess my point is that some people use video and some do not. I would imagine that video does not appeal to the majority of M users. Most people who care about video will be utilizing something that excels at video (as opposed to just doing video in its most basic of forms). Myself, I'm no longer a M user because I need other options the M doesn't offer. However, I respect the M for what it is. Now, for me, I'll take a 50mm Q and be very, very happy.

Here is no limitations on using of iPhone for video I have noticed as television professional.

The M needs to have a good video option..w/4K..I shoot 50/50 stills and video...would like to have an M for an easy simple to use music vids in full frame...and be able to pull individual still shots out of it if possible...just making life easy ..and sometimes..you just don't want to look thru a screen all the time..so a rangefinder is a nice option...
Really..how hard is it to put up an up to date video option in any of these M's and discretely too....
L is holding out on us and stretching their development timeline to make more bux..by withholding a fully capable M for those users that don't want to buy an SL and want a completely versatile rangefinder package..not a stripped down model in the style and format of their recent 28mm f5.6 release..
But I'm sure they just want us to buy 2 cams..the M..and the SL..so they will profit morso w/2 sales..instead of 1....and the M wont be cannibalizing the SL video sales either..
