Want an M10 for $252.00? On ebay right now. It's not a starting bid, it's the sale price. The seller is a newbie eBay member as of two weeks. Zero transactions. New York location.

A scam, or a mistake?

If it sounds too good to be true, it probably (definitely) is.

Of course. What do you think would happen if you pulled the trigger? Receive an empty box? Receive nothing at all? Receive an ebay refund for the $252 but not for the $900 shipping?

Not surprising, check out my post under the Most overvalued/undervalued film cameras thread: a similar scam with the Canon 35/1.5 ltm lens.

To be honest, this has been happening on ebay for quite some time. They rely heavily on users to report untoward auction activity. If it doesn't get reported it can go on unchecked for several weeks or more.

I know RFF members are too smart to fall for it, but for everyone else, for goshsakes if something is too cheap to be true, ALWAYS check seller feedback, and check completed auctions for the same item/pictures being used again and again!

Not sure why it is even worth to dump it here.
I'm finding all "look at this ebay listing" threads to show what OP has no other chance to get his time of glory on forums. :D

I didn't realize that my bringing this to the attention of forum members might be inappropriate. I'd like to know. Is anyone else offended or upset by my post, or think it inappropriate?

Ya think?!

Well, I knew something was wrong! It crossed my mind the seller could have misplaced the decimal point. But that would mean the seller thought the fair price was $2520.00, which is still half what one would expect. I was looking for an explanation other than dishonesty--but couldn't find one.

Looks just about as fishy! I really don't think you would receive either of them.

There was another one from France, sort of the same deal except it was body only with a Visoflex finder. There were some images shown in the monitor as representative of what the camera could do, and it was priced just one dollar lower than the one with a lens. Neither seller had any history, and the photos did not look similar enough to assume they were the same seller using two different accounts. Low priced items like these could be a fencing operation, and who knows, maybe the item will be delivered, but then you might get a phone call from Interpol later on.

Best thing is unlike the one you posted about the shipping costs are reasonable.

I bought one of these because the price seemed borderline possible and I knew that the PayPal/theBay protection would have my back if it was a scam. Turned out to be a scam and theBay refunded my money no problem.

I don’t advise taking the risk, seems there’s a lot of these on there lately, all from users with zero feedback.
