Where do I go to write in M5. So far it's outlasted an M3, M4-P and M6.
M2, M4, M4-2, M4-P, M6 or M6 TTL

I wholeheartedly agree- my MP (together with my very late M3) is the most satisfying to use, and feels as if it will be with me to the end (probably mine!). It is a great pity that it is not available with an M6J top (mine has the M7 rewind lever), which is the only thing I can think of that could surpass it.

To Leica the company, it's a bigger problem. It's part of the reason they are scared to innovate and were forced to make the M8 to please their existing, and aging user base, rather than attract new customers.
The TTL is a better user than the M6; the "right way" dial agrees with the LED readout in the finder, and hangs just enough over the edge to make it easy to adjust with the tip of a finger. It's ergonomically correct, and a REAL improvment over the earlier, fiddly, dime-size dial. I had a classic and a TTL at the same time. I sold the classic and bought a second TTL within a month.
The classic dial makes sense with the meterless bodies. Old world craftsmanship, bygone age and all that.... Leave it to the old bodies, and the old men. (teasing!) 😉

I currently have an M4. And, while I love it and the simplicity and the obvious quality and solid feel, I'm hankering for a better experience from a purely functional point of view. I've owned an M6 classic and an M6TTL and the TTL is hands down a better choice. Incidentally, the M6TTL meter is slightly different than the M6 (more sensitive in low light and the LED shows not only the two arrows, but a red dot in the center to indicate "correct" exposure - as the current MP does). For me, it's the TTL (or the M7).

I have the M4-P and the M6 classic and find myself using the 4P more often. I don't know if there is any real difference, but the viewfinder on the 4P seems brighter and has more contrast??? Easier to focus equals more enjoyment.

I had an M6 classic and still have an M4-P. The VF of the M4-P has a little different design of the frame-lines and seems to flare less compared with M6 classic, IMHO.

I'd go with either M6. Film loading is easy and having a light meter is a necessity for me. Having all those frame lines is nice too.

How come no M7? The M4 was my favorite until I bought an M7, now it just sits.
