M2 possible shutter problem... Again

This is the second time I have started a thread about a possible shutter problem on my M2. The previous issue turned out to be film curling. This time though, I am almost certain it is a shutter issue, as the following three shots were all made at either 1/500 or 1/1000 (can't remember which but think it was the same speed for all three). I suppose it's no huge problem for me, as I never use these speeds anyway, but I would still like to know what the problem is.
All other photos on the roll were fine.

The bottom two look alike, but the top one again different from the two others. Hard to imagine how a shutter issue would cause these different kinds of issues. Furhermore in the first photograph the top of the picture is fine and problem only starts a bit further down the negative (or up, as the picture is upside down inside camera) - shutter travels horizontally, so difficult to imagine why this would be caused by a shutter issue... not impossible though, I guess...

If I had to guess I'd say light leak? Has the camera been serviced recently?

Check whether the light leaks go out of the frame or not. If it's within the frame (look at the negatives) most probably it's a shutter issue.

The previous owner had the camera serviced, probably up to a year ago. The quality of the work does seem a little questionable though.
I'm no expert, but I can't see how these could be light leaks; as I said, I have never had a problem with any other photos

Can someone explain to me how these would be caused by a problem in a horizontally travelling shutter? I'm having hard time imagining it...

This is a photo from a member of Leica Shooters Finland who had a light leak problem under the rangefinder unit (bad seal) of his M6: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1009781/Leica_M6_valovuoto_ 1.jpg ... looks somewhat similar to the first photo you posted, although the problem is at both halves, top and bottom, of the image.

Edit: this was only apparent on frames that had been "sitting there" at the film port for a while, i.e. camera on the shelf unused. Does this ring a bell in your case?

The first one is a shutter-gully light trap, I don't think it's an expensive repair ...



... don't know about the other two
