The reasons I use a digital Leica are: legacy lenses and the view/rangefinder. I have no experience with the SL but have owned both the M9 and MP240. I don't have any desire to move to an M10 or other new camera system like the SL. To me the best thing about digital Leicas is that they really are not much different than the film models. But I have to say the FujiX100F is giving my MP240 a run for the money: smaller, cheaper, more technologically advanced etc.

I'm confused. Is my M4-2 black painted or it is something else?
It didn't brass even if I use it for five years now and many days in each and every year.
Or it is only digital black M?
Two sharp corners on the top plate of my M-E are shining little brass now.

Your M4-2 would be like my M4-2 which is black chrome. It is much tougher than black paint.
Leica deliberately made the black paint cameras so they would wear/brass easily as some like that. I like the tough finish of the black chrome. Which is also on the M5, M7 and M-A.
I also like that the black chrome is not shiny.
 
I can assure you the black chrome on the M10 is not as tough as the classic film Ms. My used M10 has more wear than my late 70s M5... Personally I don’t care about finish wear but it’s something to keep in mind.

That is a very pertinent point when reading opinions on gear .
Never make assumptions that just because somebody favours this or that because of this or that , you will too .
 
M typ 240 bodies have proven to be very reliable and durable, so far. The number of incidents of failure are few and far between. Whether one is a good deal for you or not depends on what you're willing to spend and how you value their use.

Still chugging away with my M9. Raid, can you summarize what you like about the M10? At the current prices, I will use my M9 until I have used it up. And then see what the current offering is. But I am always interested in the user experience!

I have a lot of Leica and Leica off brand lenses. Bought a Fuji X-Pro 2. Use Fuji lenses on the Fuji and Leica lenses on the Leica body.
Once I got over the outrage of paying for a sensor replacement I just can't find any fault with the M9. Bought new eons ago and still my main digital RF body.

I'm with you Mark -- the files out of my M9 are just great. The ability to adapt other brand lenses on an M10 is appealing, to be sure. But even using M lenses on my Fuji XPro-1 hasn't cured me of the urge to mix-n-match. Actually, it is funny -- my Fuji is currently sporting a 35.2 Biogon in a helical adapter for optional close focus. Smart? No, but I am having fun.

Hi Benjamin.

The M10 has a better battery than what the M9 uses.
I don’t see any dust on the M10 sensor.
I can take photos back to back very quickly.
It is a slimmer camera than the M240. The M9 is not wide.
The images have good colors but not as nice as those from the M9.
I am keeping the M9 with the M10.
I still have my M8 too.

The M10 overexposes bright scenes with auto setting. This is not the case in the M9. A high ISO can be used in the M10, but this is not important to me. I prefer using ISO160~200.
