I got One!!!!!!! and I am Happppppppppppppppppy It will be here Wed. with the thread mount adaptor and manual.. HEE HEE! OH BOY!

the thread mount adaptor is the 28-50 I ll have to get a 90mm also I guess

M3 DS with the framing lever

Is there anything I should know about this camera any little tidbit of info.?

🙁 I'm so jealous. If I were to get an M-series camera, it'd be an M3 or an MP, and we all know how affordable the MP is... 😉

Congrats!!!

In the how many people got recently Ps vs. Ms I think overall Ms win...

But we've also had some Ps as well

In fact the P is all I need, I don't even know why I consider something else... only nitpick that using a 35 with its finder could be a tad easier...

And congrats for the new M !!! 😀

Just waiting for those prices to drop back to Earth... A certain person put them into orbit!

Skinny, be sure to post a shot in the Camera and Coffee thread. Loading it takes a little getting used to. And, if it does not have covers for the Flash Contacts, PM me and I will send you some "FC Fiber connector Caps". I use them on my 3 M's.

The adaptor should be 28/90, as later M4P shows 28 and 90 at one time, the others are 50/75 and 35/135. I do not know of any 28/50 adapter. I own a 28/90 to mount Jupiter 85/2 and Avenon 21/2.8 on my M3.

Kindest regards,

Wolfram

Frank, PM'd you.

Skinny is correct on the Adapter, I just checked mine. The original Leitz Adapter is marked :
"M2 50 M3 28-50"
the other is marked
"M2 21-35 M3 135"

I suspect the idea is to leave the outermost frames up and to use some type of long discontinued "eyes" attachment or an external finder.

The 90 is common with both (I think), it is currently on my Nikkor 105 F2.5. The 90mm framelines on the M3 go very well with the 105, use the inside of the framelines and you get a 100% view.

I used to have a Leitz 28-50 adapter. I have not tried it on a late M body, but on the Hexar it brings up the 50/75 frames when mounted. When you flip the frameline selector lever to 28/90, those frames remain on the VF. It may have been peculiar to the Hexar for all I know, but when I looked at the adapter closely and compared them to a Leitz 59 and a CV 28/90, the 28-50 had the "cutouts' for both.

Great. I go EBay'ing for a cheap Canon P, and find a $140 Canon VI-t instead. Oh well, one step closer to the "P"erfect camera.

What? 😱 No self-timer? What kind of M3 did you get?

The one you were dreaming of, right?

Beware of strange patterns of behavior emerging in the future... Like not feeling complete without it near you, or finding yourself looking at it in adoration.

How are you metering?

Ooops, before I forget, Congratulations! 🙂 🙂 🙂

I've purchsed two VI-Ts (sold the first one, keeping the lens it came with). In both cases, if I divided up the purchase price among the camera and lens (or lenses in one case), the body ended up costing me $150 or so -- but things are usually cheaper if you get body and lens together. $140 for body alone is quite a good deal.

I actually prefer the VI-T to the P, in part because I can use my finders with auto parallax correction, which won't work on the P. A VI-L or L1 would be nice to give me a lever wind option, but with VT and VI-T each costing me only $150 max, I can't really justify paying more than double that just for the lever wind -- a VI-L just went for $600 a week or so ago.
