Chrome! I had a black M6 and sold it. Now I've got a chrome with the black dot, and to me, it's nearly perfect. My chrome MP still looks better though...

I have and like both.

Got a chrome M6 classic because it was a good deal, it looked practically new and I couldn't pass it up. Looks great with my silver biogon 35mm f2.8, though ideally I would like a chrome summicron asph on it but mainly for ergonomics and aesthetics. Waiting on a chrome rapidwinder II that will really top it off.

My black M6 classic is the 0.85, which is only in black I believe. This will be nice with my 50mm summicron when it gets back from an overhaul.

Both are nice, black is a little more discrete, and if i had to choose one it may be black, but chrome is super nice too. Never understood those who dislike worn black chrome, I think its fine....and more importantly, none of this matters for taking pictures.

I'm an absolute sucker for black chrome. My M5 has a bit of pitting and scrapes from a nasty drop, but the way it wears around the edges is sublime.

I prefer silver chrome to black. It is the prototype of the camera. Don't like the black chrome at all. like more than black chrome the black paint, but only when it is a bit worn and you can see the brass. has the advantage that it doesn' take you a heart attack if it bumps against something ...

Hi,

I think a poll is needed about what should be done when the husband like this but the wife prefers that; cameras, food, cars or anything.

That's how this thread started and my reaction was that it's a brave man who starts a thread asking everyone after being told...

Regards, David

From back in the 1960's I became accustomed to buying cameras in whatever finish was available... thinking mostly Pentaxes here. As with Leica then, black was quite uncommon until the ES and 6x7, then for a while black was more common. Then it was about 50-50 and choosing was more feasible. I never really cared much, as the color didn't affect the performance.

I do tend to get two each of a camera, the same or similar model. Having one black and one silver can be useful in quickly seeing which is which. I'm a bit intrigued with the idea of non-black leather...

The first time I really concentrated on which finish I wanted was when my M240 was on order. Unlikely to have two of those! Eventually I passed up available black ones in favor of chrome for the "old fashioned camera" camouflage effect. :)

Oi, the zombie thread. The grass is greener. My first M was an M6 Panda so really a chrome. Then I got to handle my friend's black M6. Cue lust. Then I had to sell my Panda. Then I got a black M6 like my friend's. Now I pine for a chrome M6. :D

I need to get both and get it over with. That doesn't mean I don't think my M3 is dead sexy! I plan on getting an M2 soon. I just love the understated style of the recessed windows. The later flush windows are nice too but I think the M2 in chrome is the ultimate M, style-wise. If it had a frame counter like the M3 that would be the cherry on top.

BLACK because you can tape over the logos easier.

If you've ever spent any real time on the street or in social gathering you'll understand why this is so important.
For me the less attention I bring to myself the better.

And considering the beauty of the M3... That's the one to have in chrome ;)
