M6 - est cost to repair frame counter?

Hey all,

just bought my first Leica, used M6 and I noticed that the frame counter was at 35 and when I removed the bottom plated, it didn't reset.
I've also tried pressing the tab underneath for the frame counter to reset but nothing would happen.
Tried with a roll of film and frame counter was still at 35.
Also went to The Camera Store and had one of them have a look at it, they couldn't see anything wrong and was saying that the frame counter might have just died.
Does the frame counter break down easily?
How much would this cost to get repaired as I don't know whether to return it or keep it.

The film counter in my user M4 was broke. I had Youxin do a CLA and repair it at the same time. It cost $25 for the broken part.
