I just want to make sure the M6 I bought does not have a problem...

1/60th and higher it has the standard shutter click/clunk sound..

But 1/30th and lower, it is the click/clunk, but then a spring noise and bearing bouncing..

Is this normal?? Or am I even crazier then I thought...

Totally normal. There's a similar sounds at all the speeds from 1 to 1/30th of a second. The slower speeds operate using what is essentially a cloclwork mechanism.

It's normal. The sync speed of the M6 is 1/50th. Any speed below that involves the slow-speed escapement.

You really need to walk into a big camera shop with lots of gear and spend some quality time with a good salesman (or woman). I sold cameras, working through school in the 70's. Sometimes i would spend an entire 4 hour shift with one customer. Set em up with cameras, lenses, etc. Find a shop with a staff that loves to play with gear.

And I suppose the vibration at the slower speeds will not be a problem?

I should be able to handhold a 40 or 50mm lens @ 1/30th?

About the same vibration as a cheap Timex. No problem with 1/8th or so here.

Sounds normal 😀

Try the 1 second time setting.
Between the first clack (shutter open) and the second one (shutter closed) you should hear a constant whining noise and it should last 1 second (surprise 😛 ).
And, during this period there should be no vibrations and no changes in sound (especially the pitch or tone which indicates the speed of the mechanism)
After the second clack the whining noise continues a (very) little while, to die away with some clicking sounds.

Reminds me of when I got my first M camera in 1993. Brand new M6 from B&H. I heard that ball bearing bouncing sound at 1/15 of a second, and it just didn't "sound right". Rang up B&H, fired the shutter at 1/15 for the salesman over the phone, and got a gruff response saying that's how it was supposed to be!

Boy did I feel like the newbie.

I guess most of us have been there.
First time I heard the slow speeds on my M6 i also was in doubt
(and then I did have the Pentaz K1000.)
