M6-TTL instead of an MP - from the FWIW Dept

Mike: Thanks! And of course, the best way to find out is to go s-l-o-w and see what really happens. Maybe by the time the Sony A7RII is dead... it will be clear which way to go at that time. Seems like a lot of Leica folks use Sony's as well, run their >= 50mm lenses on it, etc. And that might be an interim compromise. Just found out that Novoflex makes some interesting gear for Leica digital M's. But the good thing about the high Leica prices is that it makes you think before you buy. So I'm thinking.... and thinking out loud.

Take pictures with film M for another few months and you will lose interest in Macro and Tele. 🙂

I sold my Canon 100L macro lens, because I was taking only ebay pictures with it. It was overkill and actually too sharp for "for sale" pictures. I have zero interest in Fuji/Sony after getting digital M cameras and my $200 DSLR with $140 prime on it does ebay, AF, low light high ISO pictures just fine 🙂

Ko:

Kind of what I'm thinking: Let time tell. For now, the model train crowd I'm selling to (my old S scale brass imported trains) is in to every mm of detail... and I do mean mm's. eBay's paying for my darkroom set-up and Leica affliction. So I'm delighted with the 100mm Macro and it's necessary "for now", but you're right that otherwise, the detail is waaaay too much for most eBay needs.

But shooting a film M is just a joy. I love this, and being able to carry what I need with minimal poundage. For me as an amateur, much of photography isn't just about the images, but the fun we have in the whole process. And if I continue to enjoy it at this level after a few more months, I'll be all over finding a digital M and saying goodbye to the Sonys. You're also right that for the most part, I won't use a 135mm much, but boy, it's handy when and if you have it and can make it work. Beyond 135mm? Nah. From now on, that's a rent.

All for now. Stay tuned. Thanks for the input!
