Why isn't M8 included in Leica's a' la carte?

..but there was a very dodageable response. They stated they would do the old style top engraving, but that was about it. You need to own one before they will add/change anything. At the time I asked(before the M8.2) they wouldn't even change to paint or grip finish. Personally, all I would like is the old style top plate engraving like Jaapv has. Otherwise I am still happy with my M8 with SU 2004.
Before my warranty is up, I will be sending it back for a CLA and minor focus problen. I will ask for the engraving to be added. I don't need any of the other options in the forseeable future..

I wasn't trying to be elusive or "smart" at all. My point was simply that such a question addressed directly to Leica might elicit the most accurate response.

I did call, and email to find out what possibilities the extent to customize the M8, like the MP/M7. That was the response I got back from Leica.
