M8 framelines with voigt lens

hi all.
just a quick question. i purchased a new M8 bout 3 months ago to use with my current cv lens: 15mmf4.5 screw, 25mm snapshot screw(non coupled), 40mm nokton1.4 m mount and 75mm f2.5 screw mount.
My question is that on cameraquest site it says that mounting nokton 40mm on M8 will bring up 35mm framelines automatically. when mounting the lens the selecter is pointing up. I found that to get an accurate image with that lens i have to compose the shot by manually holding the selector with my index to the left as these frames lines are more accurate.
is there a easier way to get round this, idealy with all my lens? will a coding kit make the frame selector change the framelines? its so irritating coming to the M8 from a bessa r3a where i can manually change the frame lines myself and they wont change with other lens unless i tell it to. ideally id like to swap the 40mm for a 35mm or 28mm in the future so i can get similar feild of view to 40mm on film. please help

Hallo,

The frame lines are selected by one of the lens flanges moving a lever inside the mount. If you take off the lens on your M8 and from the front look inside the mount on the right and then move the frame preview lever you will see a bit of metal move.

The 40/1.4 brings up the 50mm framelines as standard. On the M8 I prefer the 35mm framelines as you do so I 'modified' my 40/1.4 to bring those up by removing a little bit of metal off of the flange.

Coding the lens will not change the framelines, coding just tells the M8 what lens is mounted.

I've done that modification to several 40mm Summicrons for myself and others. I use a small triangular file. The first stroke or two is cutting through hard chrome but once you're into brass it cuts quickly. The 35mm frame is the "default position" when the bayonet lug isn't pushing the selector, so cutting a bit too much won't hurt anything, nor will cutting at a slight angle. You just have to remove a bit of metal.

On coding: you have to code a lens to the framelines it brings up - so for a standard Nokton 40 as a summicron 50 and for a filed-down one as a Summicron 35. However, coding is not needed for these lenses.

Cheers, thanks for the replys. i suppose i start chopping up my lens. Maybe a silly question but the framelines on the m8 are corrected lines eg 50mm framelines on m8 include correction ie 50mm lens on m8 will bring up 50mm frameline with crop factor?
