Just picked up a 1949 Leica 50mm f2 Summitar, one with 10 blades and the violet coating. Really impressed with it's low contrast image with great colours and wonderful background swirl at minimum focus with light points behind.

Here's some shots on the M8 without IR filter.

Just picked up a 1949 Leica 50mm f2 Summitar, one with 10 blades and the violet coating. Really impressed with it's low contrast image with great colours and wonderful background swirl at minimum focus with light points behind.

A great lens indeed, you can buy a SNHOO for $15 on the web and mount E39 filters.

Thanks Doug - I used the 12mm on my M9 quite a bit but never on my M8. I got rid of the M9 quite a while ago and decided to get a filter a play with it on the M8. So far I am quite pleased with it.
