M8 vs X Pro at low iso.

This morning I had a chance to test my M8 and X Pro 1. M8 ISO was at 320 and Fuji at 400. Both looked much the same in terms of resolution and detail. I shot my M8 with a 50mm Summicron at f8 and the Fuji with the 18 to 55mm Zoom at 55mm at f8 at 55mm. My conclusion is the M8 holds up well due to the APS H sensor size. Of corse at higher ISO the Fuji blows the M8 away. If the Fuji was APS H it would edge out the M8 in resolution at base ISO. The M8 gives rangefinder shooting and the Fuji does not. Both offer optical viewfinder shooting as we all know. Compared to M9 it probably is close with high ISO going in favor of the Fuji. The new M will have an edge, that is until Fuji offers a larger sensor like Sony.

The Fuji blows away the M9 too in high ISO and I'm not so sure how it'll stack up to the M 240. It's probably closer than you think.

Steve Huff's review of the M240 showed comparisons with the X100s, which has the same sensor as the X-Pro. They're pretty close - it would come down to taste (and budget!).

Thanks for hu on comparison. I hate to say it but I think rx1 looks pretty close to me. If it had an evf I think it may have been flying off the shelf.. X100s is the one I would pick though.. More due to fact it is good enough and the over user interface is better than the rx1... Leica is just too much money to get that last percent or two of better quality.. Any just MHO... I still have my Leica glass which I probably never sell unless I have to. At least in the near future my main digital camera setups are really Fuji x and sigma Merrill.

If the X-Pro1 had been introduced with a coincident range-finder for the OVF I'd probably never have returned to Leica. It doesn't have that though, and as many as one out of three shots at large apertures and close-in (most of my shooting) were out of focus. As a matter of fact, it doesn't have any way of manually focusing the camera through the OVF, and I detest EVFs. That was a deal breaker for me. It doesn't make much difference how amazing the image quality is at high iso if the beautiful bokeh of the lens obscures the main subject because it misses focus regularly.
