M8--what kind of battery?

Can someone who has looked at or reviewed the M8, can you tell us what kind of battery it takes ( brand name and or specs)? I want to start searching 2nd party battery suppliers to see if there is an inexpensive equivalent. I can see having at least one extra charged back up, possibly two.
I have found with several cameras I have that the 2nd party batterys are not only cheaper, but at least as good (or better) than the OEM's.

It is a camera-specific battery which communicates with the camera and has been designed for this camera only. There are no 3rd party replacements. The battery costs 80 Euro.

Jeesh, you want a $5000 camera body and your already are worring about saving a few bucks on a 2nd party battery? Some RD1 fans thought the same way and ended up with dead shutters. Why take a chance?

I expect there will be compatibles in due course, from the more reputable suppliers like Haehne. I think 80 euro is fair price for the Leica battery but for my R-D1, I went for compatible batteries at 1/5 of the price with no ill-effects at all.

While I believe that 2nd party batteries where not the cause of the RD1's shutter problem (or anything else), the OEM batteries worked well and had a good capacity. The Epson batteries cost $50 (admittedly a rip-off) and Mark's batteries cost 1/5 of that.

There was something disconcerting about going on a $10,000 vacation last summer with a $10 2nd party battery backup, so I opted for the Epson🙄

I'm still looking for the price on the diopter correction lenses. There is apparently a new series (Leica #14 38x vs. #14 35x), implying that the eye piece might be different or they just redesigned the diopters.

The M8 battery price is far from unusual ... the batterys for Canon 1 D/Ds cameras are about the same pricerange .. never heard anybody complain about that.
I can't see why anybody would take a risk with a 5000$ camera.
My Hahma 2nd part battery for the R-D1 showed all kind of unusual behaviour, including freezing camera. Only reason i ever bought it was the Epson batterys were hard to get ....... i only use originals now .... It's not worth the risk!
